'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hahnemann released

No great surprise here, Marcus Hahnemann has been released.

The now 38-year-old came to Molineux on a free transfer from Reading in July 2009.

He made 44 appearances for Wolves, his last appearances coming in this seasons FA Cup.

He lost his Premier League place in the side back in November but went on to play in our FA Cup campaign against Doncaster and Stoke.

'Marcus has been fantastic for us - both in his performances on the pitch and influence off it,' McCarthy told the BBC.

He continued by adding: 'It was a pleasure for all of us to have him in the squad for the last two years and we wish him all the very best for the next stage of his career.'

Hahnemann is expected to return to the United States and continue his career in Major League Soccer, with Seattle already reportedly interested in his services.

Back at Molineux and Wolves have again been linked with Coventry keeper Keiren Westwood, with Moxey hinting that our Mick will be looking to bring in a third shot-stopper.

"We think Carl and Wayne are capable of holding down the first-team role and we want the new man to be able to do the same," said Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey.

We don't need a third keeper, really a club only needs 2, Hennessy is young, and if we keep playing him, he could be one of ther best keepers around, and Marcus has to thank for that!

Makes me sad :(..... Marcus was great for us........... I think at this stage of their career he is currently better, than Wayne. Wayne still needs experience. It was good to know, that if Wayne would be injured, or Mick decides to drop him, then there is Marcus to replace him----------Carl Ikeme ? Well, I dont know much about the guy, but I dont think he is good for premiership already.... hopefully I am wrong.

Somewhat surprised even though it was on the cards. If anything I thought they would have kept him around for his experience because they have been saying how much he helped around the place even when he was not playing. I would hope that at his age he is wanting to enjoy what is left of his career rather than sit on a bench for another two years. He did well for us so good luck to him. Ikeme I have always been impressed with but I guess there is only ever one way to find out and that will be when he gets a chance. I still think the club will go ahead and bring in a third.
