Would Long be a good buy for Wolves?

Would Long be a good buy for Wolves?

So with Doyle finding flying form before his injury, and Fletcher scoring 5 in 5 in the dying embers of last season, would Long be a step too far for Wolves?

Ebanks-Blake has managed 7 goals this season, but hasn't gotten near the starting team other then his brief stint with Fletcher.

Keogh coming back from Cardiff and Bristol loans, is he really good enough for the Premier League?

He has managed to pick up 26 caps for Ireland, but every time he had a poor performance, 9 times out of 10 missing an absolute sitter.

Finally Vokes, has he even scored for us?

So that leaves the question of Long open.

He's managed over 20 goals this season in the championship.

He is as close to Kevin Doyle as you can get.

He's fantastic in the air, the only difference is when Doyle would hold it up,

Long can get between defenders and get in a one in one situation.

I'm not suggesting we sell Doyle, or Fletch but would he not be a good buy as an impact sub, or even rotation when needed when fatigue sets in over Christmas and the end of season, or to cover for injuries, leaving Wolves with a great chance to get a 4-4-2 system up and running!

Nah not for me , if we are to take a punt on someone id rather us sign McCail smith , hard working just like Long but looks a better finisher to me , plus hes on a free ! , More importantly O hara will be signed by thursday sources say !

On Craig Mackail-Smith he isn't on a free looks like he's worth £3million which is a lot for a League One striker.

I believe he would be a great addition. For me Doyle, Fletcher and SEB all have what it takes to make it in the prem. Keogh is a tryer but lacks quality and is for me a very average Championship player. Vokes seems to be somebody who we will forever say "one for the future" and before we know it will be into his 30s having never really made an impact. Maierhofer... well forget him. Most established premier leagues clubs will have 4 decent strikers, add Long and we have just that. Cementing the O'Hara deal, a left back and a centre back are however the priority /\_/\

Personally with Doyle Fletch SEB and Ward being able to play the just off the striker role i dont think we need a striker this year , tighten up and stay up and then bag a couple of star name attackers next season :-) , Akela i thought Smith's contract had run out , A few clubs have already tried to sign him and never has a fee been mentioned ??

Oh n i have watched LLong a few times , he lacks skill , not very good in the air , just a willing runner who seems to be 1 of these strikers who has a lot of good fortune ( look at the Cardiff game at Cardiff ) he missed an absolute sitter in the play off final and was hardly involved and as thats a big game every game is a big game for Wolves , i just dont think he would cut it ! plus 4-5 million for a back up striker hmmm money we dont need to spend in my eyes !

I would welcome such a signing but we are not going to be offering anyone a starting place and there seems to be enough clubs looking at him who could offer that. Furthermore I would be very surprised if we sign anyone of an attacking nature because, injuries aside I think he will be more than happy with what he has got- the summer they really have to utilize to allow Doyle and Fletcher the opportunity to forge what has the potential to be a great fron pairing. 3 defenders and a midfielder first.

Us and QPR are leading the race to sign Matty Upson , Injury prone and he is 32 but does anyone think he would be agood signing ? , If fit his experience could be invaluable and when playing regular he is a good premiership defender ! Im worried that he would demand big wages though !
