Who should be Wolves Number 1 summer target?

Even with our wide ranging views here on Vital Wolves, there is one subject that we are all pretty united under.

That subject is what our main summer transfer targets should be.

Number one target is a defender, without question.

From then on obviously we all want to see the deal for Jamie O`Hara confirmed. It's been going on for far too long and while its reportedly signed sealed and delivered, personally I can't wait for that to be officially wrapped up.

After that some extra quality here and there will be required to not get dragged into a relegation scrap next season.

Chief executive Jez Moxey has confirmed alongside O'Hara, that another new face is close to signing, but apparently he will not be a defender!

So hopefully good things come in threes, so who would you like to see as our defensive signing?

SmithyWolves has sent in the following poll suggestion: Which CB should be wolves' no.1 target to bring in this summer?

Option 1 is : Roger Johnson

Option 2 is : Sebastien Bassong

Option 3 is : Matt Mills

Option 4 is : Richard Dunne

Option 5 is : Matthew Upson

Option 6 is : Other

I am a spurs fan. Bassong would be good for you. He is young, quick defender. I dont think he will get in to starting XI anytime soon He is better off somewhere. 5m and he is yours. Others mentioned are either past their best or relatively costly. Mills could also be good option, but Bassong is better.

Congratulations to SmithyWolves for thinking of this poll. It's a good exercise, isn't it, trying to pick just one from this lot? First of all, it's fun trying to think who might be the "other". Alex Baptiste of Blackpool seems a good footballer and he can play LB as well, but in the end I'm not so keen on adding to our collection of relegated players. Wes Morgan of Forest is tempting, but already 27 and no Prem experience. Of the listed ones, I was first of all drawn to Matt Millls because he's only 24, but Bassong is also 24 and he has PL experience and is bigger. However, in the end I went for Richard Dunne. We already have Christophe Berra and, especially, Richard Stearman and Danny Batth--what we really need is someone for the short run who can help bring these players along. We have Jody, who is a good start, but Dunne has wider experience and it would be nice to have a CB who's a bit of a beast who could be a mentor as well. I'm not so keen on Roger Johnson who's already 27 and only has two years experience of the Premier League. Dunne seems to have more class to me. And, if Mick rates Upson, in Mick we trust! But, let's face it, I'm going to be happy if we get any one of the players mentioned in this message. Batth for the future!

Can't get the poll thing to work, but I'd go for Johnson, Bassong, Dunne and then Mills. Upson is probably past it. Odds on we'll get 'other' though! I'd like to see a left-back, midfielder (as well as O'Hara) and a striker. I like Gardner but wouldn't be surprised if Mick has his eye on Barton!

bassong was my choice. my 2nd would be mills. i think mouyokolo could still have a future for us aswell. he was very good for hull, and had arsenal, liverpool and stoke wanting to sign him before we snapped him up, hopefully his injuried won't reoccur and he can push for a place in the team, for each cb we sign, 1 needs to be sold though, if we were to sign bassong and mills, and were to sell stearman and berra. that would be good business. then there's just the problem of signing a leftback. would elokobi play better with 2 better centrbacks alongside him? who knows, but wayne bridge and stephen warnock seem to be available. wouldnt mind seeing either of those at molineux.

Batth to the Future IV?
Southbank60
Ever the comedian Southbank haha , Wayne Bridge is awful now and wants too much money so hes a no go , Season long loan for Bertrand from Chelsea ? , Warnock first choice for me though , Centre halves id like to see are out of Dunne , Johnson , Onouha , Bougherra , Upson , Mills or as stated Bassong , Morgan isn't the best , he turns slower than big George ! , Smithy id sell Berra but keep Stearman as he can play full back too and squad players are always valuable when they can play more than 1 position

true, in midfield josh mceachran would be a good loan signing for the season too. heard a rumour that the 2nd of the 2 signings we're set to reveal is robbie keane on loan. dont know how much truth is in that though.
SmithyWolves
We all would love Robbie for a year on loan if he took a drop in wages , a year alone on his wage would cost us 3.5 mill , a lot of dosh if he gets injured !!!

Cant see why such a fuss is made about Bassong. If you read the comments from Spurs fans in their forums they are keen to get shot of him.
