'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCarthy Up For Challenge

New manager Mick McCarthy says he cant wait to take charge of the club on Monday and start the hard work of gaining promotion to the top flight.

It's a select band of men that can say they have guided the club to that goal, one in the last 20 years, but Big Mick will throw himself into it with the same passion that enabled him to take Sunderland up as Champions at the second attempt.

'I'm delighted to be joining Wolves,' said McCarthy. 'There's a big job to do at Molineux and I'm relishing the challenge.

'I can't wait to get down to work. With just two weeks to go before the start of the season there's lots to be done. It's going to be a busy but exciting time.'
