Honeymoon not over for Jarvis

Honeymoon not over for Jarvis

Matt Jarvis may have returned from his honeymoon after getting married this past month, but his love affair with Wolves is far from over!

(I'm rather proud of that link!)

The 25-year-old has been linked with a number of moves away from Molineux, but despite the press appearing to think it was obvious he would be leaving, both the club and the player want to kick on together next season.

"I`m still working really hard to make sure I`m staying at Wolves," Jarvo told the Express & Star.

He added: "This will be my fifth season and I`ve enjoyed every minute of it. Personally, I`m looking to play in the same amount of games as last season and play as consistently well as I did last time. I can still improve my game as well as score more goals and hopefully I can help keep Wolves up again but also to improve our position."

Vital Wolves Comment: Wolves chairman Steve Morgan told the E&S last week that Wolves had received no unwanted bids for players, which would suggest that we've received no bids for Jarvis as he is obviously someone we would like to keep.

With Jarvo, O Hara, Hunt, Guedioura and Hammill I think we have some quality midfielders. Henry, Milijas and Edwards have their faults but are certainly prem level...Kights who knows... Our strikers are decent for the lower half of the prem as well, now if we just got a couple of defenders.....

One thing to be proud of is that we have maintained 'the core' and thankfully continue to aim for players of the same ilk, although somewhat proven at least! I don't believe any transfer talk surrounding Jarvis. Neither he nor the club have ever shown any indication they wish to sell. Mick admitted everyone has a price but pointing out the obvious is a very important part of a manager's job of course :) Next year for example, Mick will insist that we have to cut out the mistakes. Perhaps the players will even listen. Anyways, very slow news day so felt I would add little to the non story kicked off by the E&S at the launch of a garage.

One question- speaking of Hammill........... what happened there do we wonder? Came in looked great never saw him again. Mystery.

Worrying reports of 12 mil bid for Doyle by the gunners. if true i doubt moxey will pass up that "good bit of business" - also would tie in with Morgan lauding Hunt and Fletch upfront a week or so ago. At this point im starting to get really twitchy.

Good thing for us is hopefully Kightly Edwards Zubar and Guedioura will be like new signings themselves as we hardly saw them last year and are all fit and raring to go so thats like 4 new signings too :-) , just seriously hope we get the 2 centre backs we all know we need , not overly concerned of a left back , but if that rumour i put up on another thread works out i will be a very happy lad :-)

Hmm.....with 4-5-0 unplayable and 4-5-1 proven ineffectual without Doyle, it would then have to be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.
04/07/2011 11:23:00
We could play 3-4-3 or even 2-3-5! Don't worry W- I think Mick will be setting out his stall at 4-4-2. We are of course desperate for two replacement s in the middle and with that gap shored up the sky is the limit perhaps. As for the left back spot, call me greedy, call me sensible- but we lost a number of goals from that position last year and it has to be filled. If Konchesky was worth 3 million last year and we could bring him in for half that at least eases the wage scenario. He's got a lot of PL games under his belt and for once we have a left back to play left back. As far as wages go, with his experience he is not going to take a ridiculous pay cut so give him a wage he deserves and then have his contract shaped for the future? I like what we did with our existing players- they were all apparently about to face massive pay drops if we went down so I assume they all earned a bonus of sorts/and or percentage increase on what they were earning. We need three new faces at the back this season. As for the Doyle 'story' it is one that press have picked up and are running with. I don't see Doyle leaving. If anything maybe next year if we have another struggle. I would still turn 12 million down without a blink.

He would fit nicely in 'my' long as it is not him, or anyone else, all alone up front. I'm all for him to stay. Besides,I can't see him leaving either, NYCW

Glad to hear it W- also the club have barely sniffed at the story, there having been no response. As much as I look forward to a more attacking approach from us next season, Doyle will prove priceless on those occasions we are winning away from home and want to protect a lead. It has worked on numerous occasions and it will prove vital shall we say to have such a player available to us.
