Berra not paying rumours any attention

Christophe Berra has not been paying the rumours linking him with Scottish Premier League champions Rangers much attention.

The 25-year-old Scotland international moved down from across the border in a 2.3million deal back in January 2009 from Hearts.

He has made 65 Premier League appearances in that time and right now he remains content in England.

"I read it in the papers and Rangers are a massive club with a huge fanbase, you can never say you`d say 'no` to them.' Berra told the Express & Star.

He added: "But I`m enjoying life in England at Wolves and the Premier League is the place to be in to prove yourself - I`m improving as a player here.

"It`s just rumours and I`m not really paying much attention to it."

Vital Wolves Comment: In the full interview, Berra also mentions how Scottish football is currently in a decline and how clubs can`t afford to pay big transfer fees and probably wages, which is probably a hint why he isn't taking the rumours seriously.

Yea and while your there in the car bring back Bougherra with you.
Crete Wolf
Crete i said I'd love for us to sign Bougherra when the season finished , class centre half and would love him down here , Ideal swap for me , but if Berra goes we need at least 2 centre halves then , Berra would be a good squad player for me but if he can be part of a swap for Bougherra then great stuff !

Can't understand why one could want Berra out.

I dont want him out , I just think a swap for Bougherra would be great business , he gives away far too many fouls Berra as does Stearman and Jody is too old now and does not posses pace , thats the only 3 centre halves we have and its worrying , we need 2 experienced centre backs in the 25-30 age bracket with bags of experience and leadership qualities , Johnson - Bassong - Bougherra - Dunne - Onouha - Evans Upson - etc all of those names will fit the bill in terms of ability and a couple in terms of leadership but all of the above are far better than what we have ,

I think last season Berra and Stearman greatly improved- they developed a better understanding of one another but the mistakes were still too often and I agree that Berra gives away too many fouls- a direct result of finding himself in the wrong position. I don't want to write off either player but don't want another struggle like last season and we are all in full agreement, have been all along that we need three new defenders. As several deals start to fall into place we shall learn pretty quickly I am sure who we are serious about signing and what kind of investment we are actually going to make.

I do not know whether others read like I read - on more than once MM has remarked that the players now have 2 years' PL expeience behind them; meaning, I take it, that if Jez does not clinch any new signings, that will make for the improvement in view of the new season. I had forseen this three weeks ago. That, and, I may add, the unlikelihood of as many injuries as we had last year. Those would be the two pluses - without any newcomers to the squad. Though it is agreed that strenghtening is needed, especially at the back, it seems that MM is preparing himself for that eventuality.

Well even if Stearman and Berra could do a job it only leaves us Jody as back up and that is the worrying factor for me , we all know we need 2 centre halves , left back is not urgent as wardy and george can do a job there , not the answer we know but they all put a shift in whenever asked and thats 1 thing i love about all wolves players , wether they have a bad or good game there effort and fitness levels never drop , thanks to injury plagued daley hahaha , personally id have given craddock a coaching role and IF we get 2 centre backs in given Batth the 5th centre half slot instead !
ODDJOB79
No, I absoutely disagree... Ward and Elokobi cannot do a job there at LB. Ward showed he is actually a decent player the minute he was moved into attack. He is no defender. Elokobi is way too slow, on and off the ball. Lovesw, I too have thought the same, seeing fat moxey's statement as a "prepare yourself for no more signings" but Im still hoping its all just a matter of time before we strengthen... I mean we simply must, Mouyokolo's gone, Craddock is pushing pension, Zubar inconsistent, Berra mistake riddled... The entire league knows we are weak at the back, and should we fail to address that we can look forwrd to being opend up game after game after game, and we will be in amongst the relegation places all year long.

The best position I have seen George at is in the middle on those rare occasions. He is not the answer, certainly not at left back either- we conceded far too many from that position last season. I agree that Ward looks better the further up the field he is, so the more we look at it the left back position has to be just as important. I don't think three signings is asking too much either. We have got away it twice now and if we don't bring in the quality we need we are going to pay for it. I said it made no sense yesterday why Leicester offered 4, then 4.3 million but if they were in fact bidding against themselves leaves them looking a bit silly really. Well- onto other targets and as said we really shall see now how committed we are in the market.
New York City Wolf
AdMant, for most of last season our two 'tigers', Zubar and Guedioura, were missing. I say we would not have struggled to the extent that we did had they not been injured. But that concerns the midfield, the defensive midfield, rather than the defence itself. I agree with your assessment of Ward and Elokobi, not altogether with that of Berra. New signings or not, one thing MM can do in Kildaire is dare to kill the mistakes, otherwise it could as well have been Cartoon House.
lovesW
ADMANT all these players you have just said are not ideal were the same players that defended great to say it was there first season in the first season we got promoted , I think Ward can do a job at left back , I had seen him mark wingers out of the game for large periods during several games , his problem is whenever he makes a cock up , which all wolves players have done Wolves fans never forgive him for it , Doyles/Fletcher/Blake's misses ? Jarvis or Hunt when they dont cross a ball right , Henry's tackles , Berra/Stearman's consistent fouling , Hennessey's lack of commanding his box , I could go on n on about every single player that has made cock ups throught the year but Wolves fans always point the finger at Ward hahaha , 2 centre backs ideally Dann and Johnson would make be perfect but it wont happen , Johnson is here but Dann will go higher than us mores the pity :-( plus i dont think we can afford him !
