'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mick Means Business

Mick McCarthy was officially installed as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers manager and instantly sent out a message to their fans.

Talking at the club's press conference earlier today, Mick said :

'In the past I've had a bit of success - that's the reason people ask me to do the job.

'It's important for the fans to believe. I don't want them to turn up not expecting to win. But sometimes, expectations do exceed development,

'When you are at a club like this you expect to win.'

Having run his eye over the playing staff, McCarthy is under no illusions as to the size of the task ahead of him, something he gave full consideration before accepting the clubs offer.

'I met Sir Jack and Jez on Monday last week. I had a call to meet them and I think the attraction of Molineux and Wolverhampton Wanderers was quite evident.

'What disattracted me was that 11 players had gone. I'm fully aware of the situation and I have to be honest and say I had reservations because of it.' he said, adding

'But that apart, as I say, the attractions are evident'
