'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Time to move on the fringe players says Moxey

There is no room for sentiment in football, once a player has served his purpose for a club it's time to move them on as they become surplus to requirements.

This can happen for a number of reasons, they age and get slow and not as good, the club moves on and needs a bit of extra quality or a transfer doesn't quite live up to expectations.

That last reason would sum up Stefan Maierhofer who is likely to be one of the first to go before the new season.

"I think we have some fringe players that we are looking at and I think one or two players would be keen to move on themselves because they feel they are not going to play.' Wolves Chief executive Jez Moxey told the Birmingham Mail.

He added: "With football players it is not so much the money it is about doing the job.

"What is their job? Going out to play football 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon and if players aren`t going to do that for us then it is only right that they should move on.

Vital Wolves Comment: The quicker the fringe players (some might even call them deadwood) are shipped out the quicker we can rebalance the wage structure and look a new additions.

I'd be very unhappy to see Milijas go. I don't know what's gone on behind the scenes but he seems to offer quality on the pitch which we need.

Spot on Lew. I think he is one of our most gifted players. He has the vision, and the ability to cut teams in half. There is a five minute video on youtube which Belgrade fans posted when he left- I don't care what the quality of the oppostion was, no one would stop a dozen of the goals we see him scoring. I would love to see the stats comparing his time on the pitch, to goals, assists, the win-loss ratio. The Express & Star started all this talk which puts me at ease because half their stoies are written out of boredom rather than carrying any weight. When the transfer window closes and he is still amongst our 25 we will be all the better for it and I can promise the Express & Star will never mention it's prior article again.
