Kightly Agrees Contract Extension

Kightly Agrees Contract Extension

Michael Kightly agrees a 12-month contract extension with Wolves.

The 25-year-old winger who we signed for a bargain £25,000 from Grays Athletic in November 2006 is now set to stay Molineux until the end of the 2012/2013 season.

'It is nice that the club came to me and asked me to sign another year, Hopefully I can now get back out and prove my fitness and prove myself again as the same player I was two years ago.' Kights told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: 'If that happens then there may well be the chance to commit my future to the club further and I'd be delighted to do that.'

Boss McCarthy added: 'It's great news that he's signed a new contract to extend his stay with us, and I know how keen he is to go out and show what he can do again this season.'

Vital Wolves Comment: Fingers crossed that Kights can put his injury problems to one side and enjoy a good spell in the team.

Over the past two seasons he has made just 14 appearances with the last 4 appearances (including one start) coming in April at the end of last season.

Indeed, its amazing what a big part of our squad he once was, even overshadowing Jarvis for much of the time... will be fantastic to see him in the starting line up come Blackburn.. WE ARE WOLVES!

Agreed, but perish the thought that I would make comparisons between Kightly and the other wingers in our squad. Nonetheless, we are so well served that ...

Oh Jarvo and Hunt are way ahead of him at the moment but if he keeps fit and has minutes here and there and reserve games to get upto full match fitness its like having a good young winger on a free this season !

Perhaps a loan to get him really up to speed?
