McCarthy not bothered by pre-season results

McCarthy not bothered by pre-season results

Mick McCarthy is genuinely not bothered by results in pre-season.

We know this because it's not the first time he has said it!

'I don't think the result is important, Of course I'd rather win any game but I'm genuinely not really bothered about results in pre-season.' Our Mick told Wolves Official Website.

He added: 'I hate pre-season games and everything about it - and that game has proved it again.

'It's just a matter of getting fit for the 13th of August because these results will have no bearing about what goes on this season.'

But despite him admitting that the results do not matter and that he actually hates pre-season, here is a little re-cap of our opening game against Crewe..

We Lost.

Oh you want a little bit more?

OK, we lost 2-1, Doyle scored ours with 9 to go but we conceded again in the final 5 minutes.

We fielded two sides, which were (thanks to WOW): Wolves (First-half): Hennessey, Stearman, Reckord, D. Davis, Johnson, Berra, Mendez-Laing, Milijas, Ebanks-Blake, Vokes, Hammill.

Wolves (Second-half): Ikeme, Elokobi, Batth, Craddock, Kostrna, Henry, Kightly, Keogh, Doyle, Griffiths, Jarvis.

And that is all that needs to be said.

Vital Wolves Comment: Well done to all of the 976 Wolves fans who made the trip to Crewe, but when you read comments like this from Mick does it make you wonder why you bothered?

Those 976 fans are the ones that are chomping at the bit for their footie fix. I'm getting there myself. No longer does pornography fill the void that is Saturday afternoon at the Mol. Even Mrs Tasty's hand is getting tired - and she's got skills! Anyway i'm going off the point, pre-season friendlies mean nada. Big Mick's right. Obviously it's nice to get a win for the sake of confidence, but for me the biggest plus point is no injuries!!! UTW

Why would you need porn if you have a mrs ? hahahaha , Friendlies are all about blowing out the cobwebs and towards the last couple of friendlies for MM to figure out what his first 11 and subs will be for the first game , theres usually 1 suprise who will fly through pre season and shock us , anyone think there will be a suprise inclusion to the starting 11 ? with the squad we have now i think the starting 11 and subs will be Hennessey - Zubar - Johnson - Berra - Ward - Hunt - Henry - O'Hara - Guiedioura - Jarvis - Doyle . Subs - Fletcher - Stearman - Blake - De Vries - Foley - Kightly - Milijas , That leaces out Elokobi - Craddock - Edwards - Hammill - Vokes , so unless 2 young kids get the other 2 places in a 25 man squad like B

Batth and Winnall i can see 1 more good signing coming in as Batth looks like he will go out on loan to Charlton , as im sure Winnall will again too and Malone is off to Bournemouth , why have kids in a 25 man squad if they are off on season long loans ? , obviously Keogh and the Hoff aren't in so i can see those going within 7-10 days , it just looks like theres room for eeither 1 top signing or a season long loan for ourselves , maybe Wayne Bridge still has something left in the tank , he certainly needs to proove himself again , and where better than a club that gets players into a tip top condition in terms of fitness/stamina ???

I'LL SHOUT OUT THIS RESPONSE SO THAT BIG TASTY CAN HEAR. MY STARTING LINE-UP AGAINST BLACKBURN IS: HENNESSEY, ZUBAR, JOHNSON, NEW SIGNING 1, NEW SIGNING 2, HUNT, GUEDIOURA, O'HARA, JARVIS, DOYLE, FLETCHER. WE NEED THE TWO SIGNINGS TO PLAY 4-4-2 AT EWOOD PARK THOUGH!

So basically Southbank Wolves have 9 players hahaha , I said with the squad we have as it stands ;-) , Footballtaz1 if we finish 17th , its another year we can be in the prem , I'd want higher but aslong we dont get relegated thats the main aim ! , Dont forget that Blackburn are a bogey side too , its the 1 fixture i hate more than any other !

The games are all about fitness and coming back to form and working out the team. And for what it is worth, I see us finishing 12th to 15th

Oops! Sorry, Oddjob but you can understand my reluctance to start the season with a sloppy side. I hope sense will prevail and that we will get our new and shiny CB and LB. In fact, your comment about Blackburn makes my point. We certainly do not want to start that game with a dodgy defence.

Yeah ideally id put Bassong/Onouha at leftsided centre back and Wallace or Bridge on loan at left back , 2 weeks for it to happen yet so you never know , what im happy about is teams like Stoke/Blackburn/Albion/Fulham are not signing class acts or splashing big money just like the promoted sides aren't . Norwich have spent a bit but all on unproven prem players , We have been linked with Ridgewell again b.t.w but its on a dodgy site so prob means nothing ( or hopefully means nothing as i cant stand him hahaha )
