McCarthy celebrates 5 years at Wolves

It's fair to say that Mick McCarthy has divided opinion over the past couple of years.

I've received my fair share of flack for supporting him over the past 2 years, which is fine, we're a fan site and different opinions is what makes this site fun.

It would seem that no matter what he does, some will still think he isn't good enough.

But what is clear is how much better off we are now compared to where we were before our Mick took the hotseat.

"Over the course of five years, I`ve had more things right than wrong.' Wolves gaffer Mick McCarthy told the Express and Star.

McCarthy took over at Molineux 5 years ago yesterday, replacing Glenn Hoddle in July 2006.

Looking back on what he thought was possible at the time of his appointment McCarthy added: "Did I sit in Portugal thinking when I got that phone call that I would be preparing for my third season in a row in the Premier League? No, I don`t think anyone thinks like that.

"I just thought I would get Wolves promoted. When that would be, I didn`t know.

"So, overall, it`s been a great five years."

Vital Wolves Comment: In those simple terms if we had been offered what we have now after Hoddle, I think we all would have took it.

I wonder what the next 5 years will bring?
