McCarthy annoyed with late goal

McCarthy annoyed with late goal

He's been telling us just how little he thinks of pre season games, but that doesn't prevent the competitive spirit from kicking in and Wolves were left frustrated after a 1-1 draw with Notts County.

Over 700 Wolves fans went to the game and saw a last minute goal from Notts County's Neal Bishop which left our Mick seething.

'It might not count for anything but we shouldn't be giving a goal away like that at the end of a game and it happened a bit last season,' our Mick told Wolves Official Website.

He added: 'We've got to get that out of our game, conceding in the last minute.

'I'm bloody annoyed about that to be honest - just win the game.

Wolves had been leading when Matt Jarvis scored after 28 minutes after good link up play with Jamie O'Hara and the side had further chances to extend the lead but it wasn't to be.

Wolves Team according to WOW: Ikeme (Hennessey 65), Zubar (Foley 45), Ward (Elokobi 65), O'Hara (Milijaś 45), Johnson (Craddock 65), Berra (Stearman 65), Hammill (Kightly 45), Henry (capt) (Davis 65), Doyle (Keogh 65), Fletcher (Ebanks-Blake 45), Jarvis (Hunt 65).

It was even worse for the development squad. They faced Shrewsbury Town and lost 2-0.

For the 270 hardy souls who made the trip it was a first chance to take a look at new signing Dorus De Vries, who by all accounts did make a few good saves but overall it was a disappointing showing by the team.

Wolves Team according to WOW: De Vries, Kostrna, Hemmings, Harris, Ebanks-Landell, Batth (capt) (Ikiewhe 69), Mendez-Laing, Price, Spray (Constantinou 76), Cassidy (Gorman 64), Winnall.

Another late goal, when will they ever learn??!!! A Bluenose m8 of mine seems to think we've been sniffing around Stephen Carr. Would be a gr8 capture for us, he's been very good for Blues - a seasoned pro is exactly what we need in that spot! Penny for ur thoughts?? UTW!!

Hmmm so Carr is better than Zubar ???

Carr not good enough can any one say if were going to sign anybody else or is this another almighty relegation battle again apart from hitzlsperger who we have been talking 2 any CH OR LB been mentioned

We all know we could do with a centre half and a left back but this Wolves squad was capable of beating the top sides last year , so its there for all to see that with consistency we can finish mid table , it bewilders me that we sign a quality centre half and centre midfielder and you think we will be fighting relegation , you call yourself a fan/supporter , that you have little confidence in the squad we have , some fans are never satisfied ! last year was the HARDEST season the prem has ever seen , what if we sign 2 defenders and they get injured , knowing you Kia you will say McCarthy should have signed 4 defenders !

Oh and bloody typical , we concede a late goal and its a dissapointing performance , what about the 8 bloody chances we missed in the first half ? , yet again the so called superstars of the Wolves side get away with not being mentioned , we concede a late goal and the defenders/goalie get the flack , The right up needs to be accurate next time , sending out false vibes really !

Anyone know why zeli hasnt been given a run-out in any of these friendlies?
26/07/2011 00:28:00
oddjob i have never said we need 4 defenders i have said a LB and another CH yes we beat 4 of the top sides yet we couldnt beat the sides around us you say it s because we lack consistency yet these defenders have now being playing together for the last 2 seasons in the top flight and do not seem to have improved. things do seem to be getting better with RJ and CB but what happens if RJ gets injured alls im saying is we need to improve the squad futher every year thats what you have to do man u have signed three players and they won the league. As for fighting relegation we had Ohara for a third of the season last year but one player does not make a team if it was not for the brums falling of the edge of a cliff we would have been relegated true.

IFS BUTS MAYBES , if we hadn't conceeded a goal in the last 7 minutes of games we would have finished 8th , if the milkman came more often i might have had another brother blah blah blah , Yes ( sick of saying this lol ) we would all like another left back and centre half , but i have faith in the squad we have , I've seen them twice now and they are getting fitter and looking sharper all the time , the first half side against County should have been at least 4 up by half time , players in the 2nd half are a bit behind in fitness , have you been to the games ? , I think the squad we have has more than enough to improve on last season
