Mendez-Laing Staying Put

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing was on the Wolves development team score sheet last night after his move to Peterborough collapsed.

Reports claim player and club were unable to agree on personal terms for the 19 year-old who impressed on loan last season.

Mendez-Laing joined Matt Doherty and Jack Price on the scoresheet for a 3-0 win over Airbus UK.

Mendez-Laing is just one of all youngsters who have failed to break into the first team fold over the course of the last five years. Danny Batth, who many consider to have the best chance, is back on loan at Sheffield Wednesday until January.

The Owls medical team say Batth turned up for training with a clean bill of health.

He rarely starts for Posh so hes never gonna break into our squad , sooner we get 1/4 of a mill for him n get him off the books the better i feel !

But Batth is going to Sheffield Wednesday, Akela, though I don't know if he is travelling there in the middle of the week!

Surprised that a 19 yr old who clearly will never break into our side is arguing over pay and terms. You would think that a kid his age would want to play first team football. I don't know him but maybe this is a sign of the attitude that we need rid of. Yes..its a step down from a big club but surely at 19 you are better stepping down in order to gain the experience needed to later step up. I suspect he'll come to regret it later on.

Maybe his agent has to much to loose.

I'm confused by your comment Mr. Banks! and no one got my clean bill of health joke? Batth? Clean? Well, at least I thought it was vaguely amusing. True that you don't really hear of these young players breaking down a deal over personal terms. I'm sure many of us grew up dreaming of playing football for a living; it does indeed baffle why so many players seem happy to sit on the sidelines picking up a check. Man City being the number one club for this, and for obvious reasons. As for Mendez-Laing who knows how or why, but if the club have already shown a willing to unload him I miagine he will be on his way out sooner rather than later.

Yorkie - and Akela - if you look at the picture introducing the thread, you will notice that it features Batth, which threw me because I thought the report concerned Mendez-Laing.

We don't have a photo of Mendez-Laing on the system, but don't know why Yorkie used a picture of Batth to confuse us ;)

Because the story ends with talk of Danny Batth!!!!! (and true there was no picture of Mednez-Laing :)
