Wolves - Twitter,Twitter,Twitter!

Looking at the way things have unfolded over the close season and the way Wolves have been going about their business, I find it very difficult to believe that all of our dealings are complete.

The way that the Roger Johnston deal suddenly 'appeared' shows that the 'offer' had been made a while before and that Blues eventually accepted it, this I think is again the case, with maybe several offers out and waiting for a response.

Concerning another centre back, we are fortunate that their are several high profile players still available at the moment who occupy that position, Samba, Jagielka, Cahill, Bassong amongst others spring to mind.

I think that we are still very much in the hunt for Dann and that a glut of players in this position is helping our cause in getting 'value for money' so to speak, if its not him then maybe another from that list will come in at the right price.

Merlins warnings to players about using 'Twitter' last week only strengthen this argument I think, he is publicly warning his players not to let the 'cat out of the bag' so to speak until the player or players concerned have signed on the dotted line.

The first anyone will know anything about any more signings will be when a press conference is called, I am with what appears to be the general view that we need three more players, a Left Back, Centre Back and a midfielder, one of those I think will be on a 'free', only time will tell, but surely he cant go with what he's got! can he?

If we do go with what we have, it means only one new outfield player from the squad that only just remained in the top flight last year.

I think it will be possible to stay up with what we have as the three teams coming up look so weak and have not spent, but is that enough? Would it not be nice to show some improvement and finish mid-table?

The other possibility is that bids are in place for a player or players in the event that we sell one of our 'star' players, time will tell again.

I don't think we're waiting on any further offers that have been made. We tend to do our business early in the summer, it's what we've done the last few years. If the opportunity arises then we might take advantage if someone unexpected becomes available, but I don't think there are any offers that have been left on the table for weeks just waiting to be accepted.

I have mentioned what akela has written a few times already fearing this may be the case. I dont think that 1 new player is sufficient and I therefore hope I am wrong.

As the window gets closer to closing then there will be plenty of action. Players currently without clubs will soon become far more willing to listen to offers. Clubs that need money i.e. The Bluenoses will also become more compliant. I also still think the Dann deal is alive. i'd take Ridgewell too but only time will tell. I stand by my statement though that I do think we have a team capable of surviving again...............I'll happily fall on my sword come May next year if proven wrong :P I know surviving might not be a word that sits well with some but expecting too much too soon is unrealistic.

I see on newsnow RJ reckons their will be some more signings not to go on but i hope he is right it was in one article if we release or sell the Hoff Vokes AND kEOGH we will only have a 22 man squad which leaves 3 spaces available surely it would be sensible to get 3 more signings if just for cover hopefully please Mick.

Good post Crete- I like the way you raise the issues and everyone has come back with differing, but equally intriguing points. Moxey himself said maybe a week ago that whilst nothing was about to happen, he and Mick are talking to various parties all the time whether it be players coming or going. I don't believe for a minute they have shut up shop and Roger Johnson appears to have backed that up by saying he indeed expects more to follow, and I hardly think he was speaking out of place. I think there is every chance deals have been left on the table- this appears to have happened with Johnson himself; there's the offer take it or leave it. I think Birmingham expected some bigger clubs with more clout to enter the fray but whatever happened he ended up a Wolf. I can imagine, or would like to imagine we have done the same with Dann. Of course they are once again holding out, but they can not afford to keep the player beyond the transfer window. I have no idea why, I guess an injury- but he did not play for Blues today. There are also of course a number of good players still available and I imagine they also are biding their time. Maybe it is a personality trait but personally if I was without a club I would start getting a little worried now, so some of these players... surely they don't want to start the season without a club. Hardly a great advert; either no one came in for them or they were/are asking for too much money. I don't think any of us think this squad would go down; at the same time having spent two seasons flirting with relegation the same again really is not good enough.
