Carling Cup draw? Cobblers!

Wolves will head off to League Two side Northampton for the Second Round of the Carling Cup.

The game with Northampton is scheduled for either August 23rd or 24th.

Details will be announced on WOW as soon as they are arranged.

The Cobblers are no strangers to a giant-killing, knocking Championship side Ipswich out of this years Cup and beating Liverpool last season.

The proverbial banana skin draw.

No it's true....couldn't resist. I hope that we can get a good run in a cup this season. I think that it something that the club and supporters need. However not forget the league like the Blouses did!

Yes, I was just chuckling about Birmingham City football club. I don't buy into cup runs being a distraction- you can't beat a winning feeling and a cup run can only build players confidence and bring some hope to the fans. Mick has already said whilst continuing our supposed imrpovement in the PL he would like to see us win one of the cups and these days any team, or most from the PL should stand a good chance of making it pretty far if they are taking a cup seriously. No doubt the younger crop will get a run out at Northampton but let's hope it is not one of those miserable knock outs that became the norm for so many years.

I remember going to Northampton, for a mid-day sunday kick-off, when we were on a run of seven straight wins and going for the record 8th....we lost 3-1.The ground only had three sides(one of those was a stand that appeared to be made of meccano) with a cricket pitch running alongside the other touch-line.The glamour of lower-league football!A run in the League Cup would be a very welcome distraction, winning breeds winning, without a doubt.I wouldn't accept that Blues were relegated because of a cup run, that's for sure.
