'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Hoff will get his chance

As predicted Stefan Maierhofer has indeed worked his way back into Mick McCarthy's thoughts.

The 28-year-old 6ft 7ins striker spent last season on loan at 2nd Bundesliga club MSV Duisburg.

It looked like it was just a matter of time before Austrian giant would leave Wolves for good.

He was linked with a £1.3million move away over the summer, but with no developments, Hoff was thrown on for a 40 minute substitute appearance against Real Zaragoza and that seemed to kick start his Wolves career.

Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96 may continue to monitor him, but he now seems set to stay, with McCarthy naming him in our 25-man squad.

'He will be in the 25. I thought he was great when he came on on Saturday.' our Mick told Wolves Official Website.

The Hoff only played a few minutes, but still showed good qualities.

Mick added: 'He was only on for five minutes, but he held the ball up, kept it and chased around and ran it into the corners.

'He's no kid, he's a professional and he did a professional job - people hate playing against that but it's good when you're playing with it.

Sell him now before he walks!!! Which to be fair I think is what Mick's doing...putting him in the shop window with a big 4 sale around that tree trunk of a neck. Yes he has some good qualities, but the fact is he is little more than an impact player to bring on after Fletch and Doyler have done their bit for 80 odd mins. If he comes good then I shall eat my hat, but at the moment, it's staying firmly on my receding barnet!! UTW!!!

I think that your right there BT. I can't really see him making an impact in anyway! unless he spent his summer holidays on the Planet Krypton, and he has come back as Superman incarnate!

BT & SS: Are you suggesting that MM is dissembling and guilty of subterfuge? As a bluff, straight talking Yorkshireman, surely he has no hidden agenda and therefore what he says is what he means!

Indeed, Southbank. I will go one step further and add I am absolutely sure of it. MM opted to let Keogh go instead. The other central strikers available now are Fletcher and Vokes, for I consider SEB and Doyle as wide strikers, or wing strikers, if you like. On another note, has anyone noticed? ...no more passing the ball back to Hennessey from near the centre of the field. Augurs well, the accent is on getting the ball forward, to play upfield as much as possible.
