From Vital England:
Since breaking into the England squad, and making his debut in March in the friendly with Ghana, Matt Jarvis has not got another chance...
The Wolves man, who saw a dip in form see him dropped by his club at the tail end of last season, wants back into The Tree Lions fold and knows that if he 'can keep playing well' he can indeed get back in.
Having made his England debut he feels that this made him a 'marked man' and a 'big scalp' that people wanted: 'it was hard coming back from my first cap, trying to recreate my form. People were targeting me and I needed to try to take it as a compliment and try to counter that by changing my game.
'Just because I'd played for England people might have thought of me as one of those big scalps and say 'He's not getting past me today'. Possibly I was more of a marked man.
'It was a fantastic experience and emotionally it was incredible but maybe you try just a little bit too hard.
'I'd have loved to have been back in the England squad but you have to earn the right and if I can keep playing well hopefully I can get back.'
At the end of the day Jarvis was considered good enough by Fabio Capello to get into the squad in the first place so he would, or at least should, still be good enough now?
So, it is down to the 25-year-old to produce the good on a weekly basis at club level and his chance, you would imagine, will come again...
