Ebanks-Blake out for a month, Vokes to step in?

Ebanks-Blake out for a month, Vokes to step in?

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake has suffered medial knee ligament damage and has been ruled out of action for over a month.

With Andy Keogh on loan at Leeds and Stefan Maierhofer departing for Red Bull Salzburg, it had seemed that SEB had returned to goal scoring form just at the right moment to act as a good option and back-up behind Kevin Doyle and Stephen Fletcher.

But the injury he picked up against Northampton was worse than previously thought.

"Sylvan scored two goals but unfortunately his injury is worse than it was on the night, He`s damaged his medial ligaments, so he might be out for a month." said McCarthy to the Birmingham Mail.

Thankfully another striker returned from injury in that game, also getting on the scoresheet.

Sam Vokes.

But can we really rely on him to give us enough back up?

'If I can keep knocking on the door and getting goals like I did against Northampton then hopefully I`ll get my chance.

"You always want to send a message to the manager and keep knocking on the door of the team and if scoring goals does that then hopefully I can keep doing that.' Vokes said while also speaking to the Mail.

Vital Wolves Comment: It would be nice to see him get a chance, but I just wonder if a step up on a regular basis to the Premier League would be too much for him?

Well I hope that he can make the step up. otherwise we are going to struggle with only 2 fit forwards. Could we be in for another striker. I think that they may well be a move in the offering.

i dont think he's ready. was hit and miss on loan in the championship last season. Realistically we only have Ward as backup striker now, something I'm not overly concerned with as he has proven he is a worthy striker. The conundrum then is, if Ward plays up front WHO PLAYS AT LB !!! ??? We should have sorted that position ages ago.

Exactly,AdMant. Those of us concerned that we haven't made enough signings, were concerned for this very reason. And i'll say it again,we need a LB because we haven't got a LB.

SUPERSPARKES-i'm not paid the millions to come up with names.Nor am I in anyway expert on who is or isn't available. We are going to lose at least two of the current starting eleven to injuries-no question. We may be one of the teams that loses someone for the season-there's going to be teams that do.There has been an awful lot of people getting carried away this past week.Let's get 10 games played in the PL and then we'll see where we stand. The opening two fixtures were about as good as we could have hoped for. Blackburn weren't up to much and Fulham were no better.I still say we can still finish with half- a- dozen teams below us(Blackburn & Fulham being two of them)...but two injuries to key players and things will look a whole lot different.
