Transfer deadline passes

Well the transfer deadline window has closed and as expected Wolves didn't join in with the frantic business of deadline day.

Many other clubs acted like this was their last chance to buy another player..ever, while we sat back and had to be reasonably content that once again we got our business concluded early.

That said, we did make a few enquiries and were ready to pounce if the right opportunity came our way, but in the end we thought better of it.

One of those deals was a move for Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury.

The 20-year-old England under 21 international had gained the interest of four Premier League clubs including ourselves.

The others were Blackburn, Norwich and Queens Park Rangers, but despite him being available either on a loan deal or a £1million permanent switch, we all decided against it and he ended up joining Championship side West Ham following the departure of Scott Parker to Tottenham.

"Lansbury has been on our radar for a while now. But, in order for us to take the interest any further, it would have involved a space opening up on the roster by a player departing.' Chief executive Jez Moxey told the Express & Star.

That player was thought to be Nenad Milijas, but as he remained at Molineux, we didn't continue our interest.

Jez added: "There was a chance that might happen - I`m not going to say who - but that is not now the case."

I think that is very optimistic! I can see a good game, nd if it lives up to last seasons game at our place then I will be happy!

I agree, supersparkes, especially if Stearman's goal is allowed this year.

So the transfer window has closed and the 3 ms have decided we are good enough but we only name 24 players in are squad and that includes a goalie who is out on loan as i said in 1 of my other reports we had 23 players 2more signings up to 25 what the hell is going on i dont understand are we now relying on the youngsters to make the grade and if so are they that good why are they not in the team now i think this is an almighty cock up by the hierachy and if i dare say if RJ gets injured what the hell are we going to do.

No reason why this year's fixture should live up to last year's. The Villa one didn't. I just hope that match does not stall the rhythm of the first two games this year. Even a draw, SS, and not necessarily a 3-3 one - as long as we play like we did in the first two games. I have thoughts of another non-performance constituting the beginning of a trend.
