Henry hits back at Barton

As you would expect Karl Henry has hit back at Joey Barton for the comments he made over the weekend.

If you haven't previously heard or read his comments, then I would recommend reading our previous article on Vital Wolves.

While it would have probably been best to let it be water off a ducks back, obviously the media are keen to get a reaction from Henry after being accused of deliberately "trying to hurt people" and being branded a "Sunday League player".

While Henry didn't discuss the comments directly, he did reveal the extent of Barton's winding-up of players during the game.

"Joey Barton was telling everyone on the pitch he is on 80,000 a week.' Henry told the Express & Star.

He added: "That is him. I think he riles a few people when he says those things and tells everybody how great he is. It is just embarrassing really. If that is what he wants to do, he can carry on.

"But that is why a lot of people dislike him as a person and maybe have a problem with him.

Vital Wolves Comment: Everyone knows that Barton is a wind-up merchant, so Henry's comments will not come as a big surprise to many, in fact many people will wonder why it seemed to have such an affect us!

I'm sure far worse used to be said on the pitch years back and everyone would still shake hands at the end of the game and have a beer afterwards.

Barton clearly has no idea about football - even claims Lee Dixon is a bad pundit. I'll be glad of the day when he finally retires

Barton was right, and it wasnt just Henry who was a pub player on Sunday... Elokobi - *****, Stearman, get rid now, Berra, WTF? Even Johnson was rubbish, Doyle was absent, Kightly couldnt keep the ball for more than 3 seconds, Jarvis - what has happenned to Jarvis, bench him if thats whats required, only Hennessey can expect a spot in the first team after THAT performance. Gotta say, I TOLD YOU SO, not enough reinforcements during the transfer, McMuppet thinks buying the weaker of the Ant & Dec show would sling us into mid-table from last gasp salvation last season. I read an article that said "Mcarthy to ring changes" I thought, Thank F&&& for that, those ********s will get crucified against Liverpool - then alas, it was simply for the non event cup game. Bet your last Kermit Dollar that Mcmuppet fields an unchanged side against pool, and the awful awful awful back was be eaten alive, Henry will hide behind Mcmuppet on the touchline and Doyle et al upfront will wonder if there is a game on at all... the writing is on the wall - it was n the wall when McMuppet decided not to recruit in the transfer. Same Old Same Old - well done in shafting us again

Admant, are you a wolves supporter. Or just someone who really isn't happy. I would love to be able to play football manager and get to the champions league in two seasons!! Get in the real world. MM has been brilliant for this club, and it is a club that is being built. No to instant success. Unless you are Chelsea or Man City. but what happens when the owners get bored?

SS: I know that Admant is a WW supporter and a passionate one at that, having read his posts for over a year. Yes, he is to the right of my view of MM but it's a valid opinion and becoming more reasonable by the game. I can tell you I am not best pleased about Saturday's cock-up and the lack of foresight and clear-minded thought that brought it about.

Saturday probably gave us the shake up we deserved! Now lets get back to fighting for the club and the team! MM realises his mistakes, and we have seen in the past he has learnt by them.

SS hope you are right but changes need to be made but with a squad like ours it must be difficult do we play 4-5-1- and not score or do we play 4-4-2 and not score lol. It has to be a worry considering we play with 2 wingers where is the service but then again if no midfield how can the wingers do their job.We need to get back to the free passing football which we all know we can play what has happened i dont know but MM needs to find out fast if not sooner .

I have to say that I thought that we would score more this season in the league, but it is a big worry!

OK, so I know i can rant, I can also say that I'm really *****ed at ONE SINGLE addition to the squad that lotto'd its way into another year in the prem. I'm also, quite regularly baffled (read annoyed) at Micks tactics, and blatant favouritism. Losing is part of the sport, and many games we lost last season I didnt go ballistic about cos I could see the effort, I could see flashes of quality, and the promise that quality offered - but what I saw against qpr was the most disgusting display of "couldnt give a damn" I can remember. Supersparkes, if you ever read my posts you will notice I simply reflect the performance of the day, very happy to laud a good performance, but equally ready to spit venom when we underachieve. Fact is we didnt do enough in the transfer, we dont have the depth, and if we dont get that defence sorted, we can expect more maulings like we did a week ago. I dont particularly appreciate your tone, but I wont have a go at you for having a different opinion... I also dont expect champions league next wednesday, but I do expect more commitment (from Mick, Jez and Morgan) to the primary objective which is, staying in the premiership. I dont have blinkers on mate, we still need 3 or 4 quality players. PS thank you for the endorsement Southbank.

Admant, sorry if I caused offense, I fully admire your passion and would greatly appreciate some of that to be put into the team. As they obviously didn't have any on Saturday. The lack of movement in the transfer market is a worry, but I have kept saying it, if we couldn't get who we wanted then don't have make do signings. I just hope that the performance against QPR acts as a kick up the backside and moves the team on!

Peace Out Supersparkes ! Sometimes I reread my own comments and realise that I come across as a crazed Banshee at times... few things get me as excitable as the Wolves and that can go either way - anyhoo, as you say, hope the qpr abortion was a one off, and hopefully, the guilty parties have been read their last rights. PS, as for lack of signings, I can agree that we shouldnt buy simply to swell the numbers, but do you really think players like Scott Dann would have chosen Rovers over us ? I dont think so, so its clear we didnt make an offer, and that means MM thinks Stears / Elokobi / Berra are Prem quality. Something, i think you will find 75% of WWFC fans dont agree with. Happy Friday !! Bring on the 'pool !!

I think that we made an enquiry about Dann, but I just believe that his demands didn't fit in with the wage structure. He went to Blackburn because they have money to burn and met his demands instantly! That is just my opinion. I think that Berra is prem quality and I think with RJ in the team he will become a much better player, he is just maturing as a player 26 is young for a centre half. But you are right about Stears and Elokobi, which is a shame especially for George as there is no doubt about his comitment to the club! Oh for him to have more skill, that would be a wish for me! Happy Friday mate, and he's to a good performance tomorrow and a Wolves win!!!!

What with lovesW going all hippy on us (in spite of himself) and AdMant mellowing, it looks like it's Woodstock revisited. I was there in 1969, if only at the Woodstock in Oxfordshire. I still have the same hair style (though my hair is a bit greyer - and shorter - and my centre parting is a bit wider). I hope that the dawning of the Age of Aquarius among us fans does not imbue our players with feelings of love and tranquility towards their Liverpool counterparts in 15 minutes time.

Hmm, A4D, I didn't think that Henry was that good, though a dodgy feed interfered with my vieweing. I agree that Stearman was poor and that Doherty improved the back line. Report written in draft and will be posted after Football First this evening. In the meantime, I am off to celebrate my birthday and that of my wife at a local Italian restaurant. I'm not driving so I'll have a glass or two, to add to the can or two I opened after the second goal went in this afternoon. As a WW fan, one has to take one's comfort where one can find it.

I didn't think Henry was fantastic ,either,SB.He did what he was supposed to do,best, though.Probably Wolves MOTM,for that reason. He mopped up well in first-half,playing "just-in-front" role,to protect defence. Stearman truly was awful, though.Jarvis was by some way the best attacking player,as I saw it. At least 8 or 9 good quality crosses.Shall wait 'til thread on match opens, before giving my full impression of the game.
