McFadden joins Wolves for training

McFadden joins Wolves for training

Striker James McFadden has joined up with the Wolves squad for training.

The Scotland international has been heavily linked with us for weeks and is a free agent after being released by Birmingham City when his contract expired at the end of last summer.

Despite only being 28-years-old he's been left on the sidelines so far this season, which could be due to the fact that he has previously suffered damaged cruciate knee ligaments 13 months ago and now no-one will take a risk on him.

But just like Owen Hargreaves proved last night for Manchester City, some risks are worth taking and with our current problems up front perhaps this one is worth taking at the moment?

The Express & Star have suggested that he joined up with the squad earlier this week and hopes to impress boss Mick McCarthy.

Definately sign him, if he does enough to impress MM. We have seen that the front line is lacking with a couple of injuries, we missed out during the transfer window I know, but deal with the now!

Any strengthening up front can only be a good thing... Fletch's absence proved how lean we are ... still amazed we let Keogh out on loan, he is quality (if not a clinical finisher) Still, I'm eager to know why we arent starting with Foley and Zubar, or Craddock even at the back cos I have yet to see a good performance from Berra, Stearman or Elokobi. Tough game on Saturday, but these seem to be the games we rise to, and I can only hope for a repeat of last year where I was the only Wolves fan in pub full of Scousers when we only went and stuffed em..... COME ON YOU WOLVES !!!

I have already commented on this question in the forum, which is an issue we might have to consider: running themes in parallel dilute the debate. However, AdMant's point widens the discussion. We clearly need an additional striker, as the absence of Fletcher last Saturday had an adverse effect on the balance of the whole side. When I have watched McFadden play against us I thought he was a good player and am pleased to see that we might sign him up. Clearly Vokes is not good enough and Keogh is worse. AdMant is being kind to him, valuing him for the contribution he made to WW in our promotion year. For all his effort (and he is a tireless runner: a key MM concept but even he was aware of his limitations) he possesses neither the skills nor the predatory finishing instincts of a PL striker. I am not sure of SEB either. I, too, am wondering where Zubar is (Foley is injured). He would certainly improve our cutting edge going forward. And what about Doherty? It's a pity all our defenders stand on their left leg and swing at the ball with the other one. Supersparkes recently wondered whether AdMant was a WW fan or not ... well, he's just shown that he is a very brave one.
