Youth lose, Reserves draw

Our development squads have had an interesting few days.

The Under 18s Academy side lost 4-0 to Liverpool over the weekend at Compton Park. Mick Halsall was left licking his wounds with a performance that he didn't think was up to scratch.

He told Wolves Official Website: 'A defeat is always hard for me to take, but it is the manner in which you get beat that always matters most.'

He added: 'We did not really get at them and were defensively very naive. Although only one down at the break, the players did not work hard enough to get themselves into the game in the second half and conceded another three goals through poor lapses in concentration.'

There was better news from the reserves side, who drew 2-2 with Wigan.

219 hardy soles turned out to see Wolves battle on for an hour with just ten men after keeper Aaron McCarey had been sent off.

Ihiekwe and Hemmings got the goals for the Wolves.

Squad according to WOW: McCarey, Whittall, Reckord, Price, Ihiekwe, Zubar (capt) (Bashford 71), Gorman, Forde, Spray (Ismail 90), McAlinden (Cotman 28), Hemmings.
