'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sky in control?

Alex Ferguson has stated that he believes that whilst TV isn't god it is certainly king as far as football is concerned.

The fact is that the amount of money in the premier league is mainly down to the fact that Sky has exclusive rights to the games shown on TV.

They see the fixture list and then choose their games.

The big ones go first and then the smaller clubs, having to have their share of games are chosen.

No thought is given to the supporters that go in week in week out. If sky want it they get it.

The reality is the game has changed beyond all recognition over the last 30 years.

Are Sky in control, or do we still have our voice?

I have never and will never justify a full years skysports subscription for 2 measely Wolves games a year... That cost/per/match makes it cheaper to actually fly to Europe where they show MOST IF NOT ALL Wolves games, watch the game and have a mini holiday to boot. Fergeddit !! Until this giant stops strangling the life out of every fan,

The link I had was relatively good...but I pay 20 a year for it. Didn't get round to it 'til the other week. Have watched half of SpursvLiverpool and our match at Anfield.Every match is available, with at least 6 links (of varying quality) to choose from. The sub is payed to Football Streams tv and they house all the links from europe and beyond.I've watched sky's and ESPN(US) coverage. It's quite satisfying to know I get the coverage without sub'ing to them. I take it Sky Sports is more than 20 a year?!

During a recent trip to Amsterdam with my m8's we all managed to watch our respective teams in the same bar, brilliant!! In order to get this from UK tho you will need an oversized satellite dish (as European signals are weaker) and a special decoder box. Very costly and time consming. Internet is the way forward - www.eplsite.com is pretty good. Gotta say the lads at Beacon do a great job with commentary too, radio may be old school but its still cool. UTW!!

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY how hypicritical of you with out the money from sky their is no money there is no football as you know it. Big tasty get your facts right if you have a satellite you can watch any match in any pub if it is in europe under the terms and conditions that have been met.Yes you have illegal ones that show games but if caught lose eveything.I myself has virgin plus espn plus first choice and i enjoy the freedom to watch whatever match i want you all critise the price of football on sky but without it how much to go and watch a game which people are saying is to high. And without the money or tv would you get to see all the stars and skills you see now you all complain about a 2 week break for international matches think about it.Football has moved on and the PL is worth millions to any team who can stay their just ask Stoke.

about 6years ago i got a pain in the back and ended up in hospital paralised for 4 and half months now have a wheelchair and can walk about 50 yards with 2 sticks, so have not been able to go to a match which hurts me as i love to see live football.Watching it in the pub or at home is the nearest i now get.So to answer your question the last time i was at a match was about 2005.

There's threads on the forum, related to JM's reasons why he believes that the crowds at Wolves home games are less than expected. The reason ticket prices are so high, is that the clubs are attempting to have the fans pay the ridiculous salaries the players are on. The reason the salaries became so high, is because the agents knew how much money sky and others were pumping in to the game. The price of a ticket has increased because of sky,not gone down.

Kia, if you have a dish you can't just watch any match. In a british pub, you can only watch what Sky or ESPN are showing. At home, you can only watch what Sky or ESPN are showing. That's the rules because Sky says so. If you want to receive a choice of broadcasts you need reposition your dish to pick up signals broadcasted to other parts of Europe, then you will need a decoder in order to translate that data into pictures. And yes i may be able to watch Rooney, Torres and Tevez week in/out - But i don't want to. I want to watch every single wolves away match. Don't care about other clubs. And just to add, the disabled facilities at Molineux are excellent. Get your a r s e down there and cheer the lads on!!

I'm the same as Big Tasty in that i'm not that interested in watching other clubs. I want to watch Wolves away matches live, though. And streaming is the way to do that, as far as i'm concerned.

firstly, i have no idea what you are going on about kia... can you translate. secondly, as a once World Conquering Club, Wolves have fans the world over.... yes, not just in Wolvo... Many of us fans live hundreds if not thousands of miles from Molineux and getting to games is simply impractical - are you saying that even in the year 2011 I should not be allowed to watch my team play, even though there are cameras at every game, and a link of fibre optic cable to transmit those images the world over ? ARE YOU MAD IN THE HEAD >?>?>? I dont mind paying to watch, but YOU ONLY GET 2 *****IN GAMES OFF C**NTING SKY... so yeah Supersparkes lets take our subscription fee and head over the shores of the Free World !!! Alternately, as The Everly Brothers put it, "Whenever I want you all I have to do is STREAM, STREAM STREAM...."

BIG TASTY 1 states in the european law if any pub can recieve matches from a satilite in a european country you can not be prosecuted if you recieve a match outside europe and show you can be prosecuted that is law at the moment.ADMANT thank you for your ******** and ****ing i for one would love to see Wolves live every week but due to my disabilitys i cant afford to you. Talk about fibre optic cable all over who is going to pay you and every other person you say lets all go Stream SOONER OR LATER they will stop the signal and you cant watch. I would love to watch WOLVES LIVE EVERYWEEK but unless you live in Woverhampton it is not going to happen unless you go to a pub. You say you dont understand it is quite easy take SKY away you have no football on tv at all they are the ones who pipe every match to every home and pub i myself live in the NE can go to a pub that shows every single NC match i dont want to see NC BUT NEXTWEEK can see all of the game and that is where the problem lies.

A4D: could you post the details of the site you subscribe to in order to watch WW matches. I would rather pay for the service but I only thought that one could only find freeview sites, which are unsatisfactory. I did join one pay-site recommended by a friend but it was a scam and I lost my money. if you have found a genuine subscription site, I would like to join. Incidentally, I sympathize with kiawolves, having got a dodgy lower back and neck myself. It's not as bad as his condition (though I am going into hospital in November to have two discs in my neck removed and replaced by a cage filled with builder's rubble). I have to make regular stops on the way up to Molineux and sitting in my seat for the duration of the game is agony. Kiawolves' problem is far more serious and I can see why it is difficult for him to attend matches, even if he lives in travelling distance to the club, which many bloggers don't.
