Wolves linked with Belgrade man

Could Mick McCarthy be lining up a move for Red Star Belgrade defender Lee Addy?

The 21-year-old Ghana international operates at left-back and according to reports in Serbia, has been the subject of a number of scouting missions by Mick McCarthy's backroom staff.

Sky Sports have reported that he would cost us around €3million if we were to make a bid, as Red Star Belgrade have already turned down previous bids from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

Vital Wolves Comment: I remember a lot of the Ghana team impressing during the World Cup last year, have to admit I do not remember Lee Addy specifically. So feel free to.........

Surely shoould have made a move for him in the summer then! This could just be paper talk as the transfer window is 2 1/2 months away!!

Indeed, SS! We seem to dither for ages and, if we do eventually make a bid, are still likely to get it wrong. The Hof and JVD spring to mind.

The Hof was a mistake, JVD I believe just didn't work out! He could have been a really good player for us IMO! But if Mick thinks he needs a LB now, surely he should have signed someone, I mean we all saw it!!! Mick is showing some cracks, i have always supported Mick, but I am very worried at the moment!
SUPERSPARKES
I'm encouraged that there a murmours of activity. We're also reportedly after Maxi Lopez from Catania. UTW!!
BIG TASTY
It's all a bit late, the January window is to fill gaps left by injury not to bring in players to fill gaps that have been there for ages!!
SUPERSPARKES
If we know that, SS, why hasn't MM come to the same conclusion? It must be because we put forward the point in a blog! Re: The Hof and JVD, I could understand MM's reasoning. As we had good wingers at the time but small strikers, it made sense to buy in a tall target man. Unfortunately, The Hof wasn't even the Pound World version of Peter Crouch. Fletcher fits the bill much better. JVD was not as bad but he was slow and cumbersome at LB, as was discovered in the pre-season friendlies. Surely, the scout should have picked up on his lack of pace when watching him play. Even so, I thought that we might have been able to convert him into a decent central defender, given his height and physique. But, while he looked fearsome, he was clearly a ****** (in case this word is bleebed out, as it was the last time I used it, I am referring to a cuddly cat rather than to a part of Mrs. Slocombe's anatomy).
