Wolves Bites - News Round-Up

In our forgotten feature, Wolves Bites returns with news on Kightly and Stearman.

I really should keep this feature going on a more regular basis, simply for the headline! But anyway, here are a couple of the latest news snippets coming out of Molineux, in a handy bite size chunk.

Michael Kightly has extended his loan spell with Championship side Watford until early January.

The 25-year-old joined Watford in October and has made four appearances for the club, scoring in their last game against Portsmouth.

'I didn't play the number of games I'd like to have done last month, so it's great to have the chance to put that right first of all,' Kightly told Sky Sports.

He added: 'There's no big-time Charlies here and I've had a great time.

'I've been impressed with the club as a whole; everyone works hard and is pulling in the same direction, which you don't always get I know from talking to players elsewhere.

'I've got more to give, though. I'm feeling great now, thanks to the medical staff here, and I want to keep contributing to the team's development and achievements.'

Not such great news for Wolves defender Richard Stearman however.

Stearman suffered a broken wrist against Everton, when he fell awkwardly following a challenge from Tim Cahill.

He will undergo surgery to repair the fracture to his radius later today and is expected to have a plate inserted.

There are currently no indications on how long he is likely to be out injured for until he has had the operation.

Vital Wolves Comment: Could someone gently whisper to the team on Wolves Official Website that we lost at Everton?

The current Surgery For Stearman article states that 'Wolves defender Richard Stearman will today undergo surgery on the broken wrist sustained in Saturday's draw at Everton.' Which unfortunately wasn't the case, who knows perhaps they left 10 minutes early and missed the end??

I feel sorry for Stearman but, given MM's reluctance accurately to assess the form of his favourites, injury seems the only way to lever him out of the team. I think he is better as a CD than as a RB, though he his weaknesses there as well. To be fair to the manager, others rated Stearman's performance on Saturday more highly than I did. With wave after wave of attack homing in on him, he had to stand firm ... but he hardly ever prevented the crosses going over into the box. Everton completed 41 crosses to our 11. If Everton had not been so dreadful at fininshing (and had Berra not decided to have a decent game), we would have lost by a cricket score. Let's hope Zubar is fit for Saturday for, if I am happy for Ward to take RS's place at RB, I don't want George in at LB under any circumstances. Neither can we risk Doherty for this game, though he does have a bright future at RB.
