Henry denies possible QPR move

Karl Henry has denied reports linking him with a move to Queens Park Rangers.

The 29-year-old has seen the recent additions to the squad in the form of Eggert Jonsson and Emmanuel Frimpong and that has only helped to add fuel to the fire regarding a possible departure for Henry.

But the combative midfielder is happy at Wolves and will continue to battle for his place in the side after making 20 appearances so far this season.

'I've got to the stage where I'm happy here, I want to stay in this league and I'll continue to do what I do to the best of my ability,' Henry told Sky Sports.

Henry was close to a move to QPR before he joined Wolves from Stoke, but revealed that he hadn't heard the more recent link.

He continued: 'As regards the link with QPR, that's the first I've heard of that.

'The last time I was linked with QPR was before I signed here. I had a medical there and agreed a contract with them and nearly signed for them.

'But I came to Wolves, I'm still very happy here still. It's news to me.'

Vital Wolves Comment: Henry and Joey Barton in the same side?

Now that would be interesting.

Finally, some good news! Sorry KH fans, I couldn't resist.
I can only say it as I see it and if I'm honest.........I think we look weak in midfield when he's not playing. I know he makes mistakes but none of the other CM's get stuck in like he does. Would I replace him if the right player came along, yes, but for know I think he's the best of a bad bunch in what he is employed to do. I still believe that a half decent Coach could sort out our problems and get this bunch of players playing better. This of course is only my personal opinion.
It's mine too, Rustmonkey.
I thought Henry played reasonably well against Chelsea, especially in the specific job he was selected to do. He also displayed one or two nice touches, especially the pass to Edwards. However, he still miscues his passes and dithers on the ball. As Rustmonkey argues, these shortcomings could be easily eliminated if he received decent coaching.
I would like to know why QPR would be interested in KH as the news comeing through on skysports their in talks with both Alex of Chelsea and Onouha of MC for about 3million each the sort of players we should be after. To me that is quite cheap but not Wolves we will sign some nobody for 100 grand and hope he does the job what the bloody hell are the three Ms doing.
Oh dear! If they buy them, it's a four horse race for the survival 'winning' post. I thought that we were after Onouha. Maybe we still are but, as kiawolves suggests, we are unwilling to pay the going rate.
Following Barton's tweets after the QPR debacle, it would take some effort from KH to just to forget it all.It doesn't ring at all true to me. I see Fletch isn't at Anfield yet, either.
SB i just dont think we will buy anyone else if you look at the squad 90%of the same players who were in the championship and for some reason after 2 and a half years of trying to avoid relegation they are still good enough. As i have said many times there not good enough thats why no one puts bids in for any Wolves player and were stuck with them look at Keogh been to Cardiff not good enough been to Leeds sent back then you wonder why were in the *****e were in. And that statement goes for nearly half or more of the Wolves squad i can see it so can everyone else all bar the three Ms.
I still think we'll struggle to hold on to Fletcher. He is a proven goal scorer in two relegation battling teams. Liverpool are desperate for striker and lets be honest....the Scottish influence may be a massive pull for SF. I think you will see Maynard in and Fletch out. Lets atleast hope that if that does happen that they use the extra money to bring in some decent quality players like Onuoha, Diame or Gardner.
We could swap Fletcher for Suarez,I'm sure they would love him in Wolverhampton.
Crete Wolf
Rustmonkey Bent on his way to Liverpool Onuoha on his way to QPR: read a report on newsnow saying that 13 of the players who have played for Wolves this season were in the championship side when we got promoted and six of them were defenders. That is the reason were in the mess right now because 2 and a half seasons on were still playing championship league 1and 2 players.Lets all be honest they are just not good enough we are 2 places above the relegation zone so we loan a 19 year old and buy somebody no one has heard of bar at hearts and these are going to stop us geting relegated. Just the same every season try to do things on the cheap in stead of trying to buy quality PL players will the three Ms still be saying that when were playing championship football next season.
SKYSPORTS REPORT Wolves and QPR make bids of 2.5 million for Onuoha from MC lets hope he picks us would be good signing. Theres all so report were interested in W bridge which my personal feelings would be good it would release Ward to play up front with Fletcher as hes the only other striker who is scoreing goals or is he a left back.
I read a report yesterday that WW have made the fewest tackles of all the teams in the PL. That not only reflects the quality of our defence but also our tactic of falling back, often until it is too late to tackle
I see that
I have just read on Newsnow Wolves a report about Onuoha, which auggests that we are still in the race to sign him. In our favour is the fact that we are above QPR in the table, if only on goal difference and the fact that he might not have to move home. Against us is the pull of London and a higher wage, as well as the willingness of QPR's board to pay more for Onuoha's services. If I were O, I would choose WW ... but I am biased in the matter.
I'll try again! I see that QPR are being linked with anybody that's being linked with a move.WB's wages (95k A WEEK FFS!)are the obvious stumbling block to him going anywhere. It will be a measure of him as to whether he chooses to take the opportunity of first team football for a much reduced salary, or whether he decides that he'll just carry on counting the money without having to get his legs dirty at City. It's been some time since he had regular first team football anywhere, don't forget. He hardly covered himself in glory during his stint at The Hammers. From what I saw of him and from reports I heard and read, he was very ordinary at best.It must be very confusing for those who reckon SW is not only a LB but an exeptional one at that. Do they support MM in any bid to sign a player to replace Wardy in defence, or do they continue with the mantra that SW is an international fullback and therefore MM is in the wrong concerning links with the likes of Bridges? There have been many lessons for those repeating the club's 'official line' this season. As far as the club is concerned, anything that is said within a presser will be covered in spin and deflection. It's nothing but another strand of PR to them. They don't necessarily 'mean' a word of it. It's best to bear that in mind when deciding to meekly repeat every word as if it's Gospel.Much better to be like us lot on here, making our own minds based on what we see, rather than what we're told we're seeing.Whatever your opinion is, just be sure it's your opinion and not one fed to you by the club, or situations like the WB link will just keep on arising. We may disagree (and often do) but at least we know it's opinion v opinion, rather than opinion v spin. The rumour mill is always at full throttle during the transfer windows. I can see us picking up a defender and possibly another stricker but we will have to see. A4D I agree with you about WB does he just want the money or does he want to play, can I see him at Wolves though....not really...would I want him at Wolves....not really. There is something not quite right about him, i can't put my finger on it. I would however like to see Onuoha come in and I think that he could be a very good signing for us!
I get the same feeling about Bridges as a character, Sparkes. I think any club signing him would be in danger of signing a name rather than a hungry, dedicated footballer willing to run through the proverbial walls for them. I don't know what it is about him you say, there's something not quite right there.Don't really know enough about Onuoha, other than knowing who he is, which is a refreshing change on it's own I suppose.
LOL very true there A4D, but I think you have put your finger on it with Bridges, he doesn't seem to be someone that gives 100%. He also lacks personality...Thats probably why Jt got on so well with his wife!!! LOL But I think there is a couple of signings due to come in.
The point I was making about MM's utterances to the media, was regarding what he says about his players, rather than any transfer rumours.Any manager worth his salt is going to publicly back his players. It's what they have to do...but it's often only meant to serve as a confidence booster to the player(s) concerned. It's not necessarily the managers 'honest' appraisal of a players ability to cut it in the PL, however much any individual is regarded as a favourite.MM can back any player to the hilt and still sign a replacement for them in any given window. He wouldn't expect to be questioned on it, in terms of why he'd previously sung the praises of someone he's now replaced. He'd, quite rightly, consider it a stupid, naive question and treat it accordingly. For a fan though, it's different. If your 'opinion' is only formed when you hear what MM has had to say on a player, then once he signs a new player in that position, what's left of your 'opinion'?The manager had his obvious, unspoken reasoning for what he says publicly;the player can hear what he says, too. I don't expect the boards and threads to be awash with criticism of MM from happy clappers, saying how wrong he would be to replace Wardy at LB, for example, even though they've spent months saying he doesn't need replacing. They'd just switch 'opinion' in the blink of an eye. It's a lesson in not following the party line.
I feel the same way about WB.I don't know that much about Onuoha and am now even more confused since A4D has changed his opinion of him in the space of two posts! Re: the distinction between a manager's private and public opinion of a player, I have made the same point as A4D on other threads. On the other hand, MM really does seem to think he has a quality squad because he keeps on picking the same players and refuses to buy in replacements. The obvious example is his persistence in selecting Elokobi whenever he needs a LB (or even when he doesn't, that is, when he plays SW out of position).
Oh, I forgot: welcome back Supersparkes. I had already put out a feeler on another thread and now here you are, presumably back to make sure we contribute to the threads in the forum.
It would be nice if we could start getting the forum and the article comments flowing! They would work well off eachother and create even more debate.
I gave an opinion on Bridges,SB.I've not much to say about Onuoha,as i've said.
Well I will see what I can do to get the boards moving again, but its good to be back thank you SB. But to be honest you are never going to say publicly that someone in your squad isn't cutting it!
Of course he wouldn't,Sparkes. But that's no reason why a fan should be expected to feel less of a fan if they criticise.Anybody on the E&S boards saying how they see it, as oppose to waiting to see what MM has to say about it, is told by the happy clapping crew to go back to The Albion. How dare you argue witht he official line. Hoewever, once the official line changes (and merges with those of the critical) the HC mafia are publicly f***ed!
LOL, I love debate, and I don't toe the party line, I am an optimist and i guess that a few (ok more than a few) years ago I would have been more critical of MM as I used to go on a regular basis, but due to circumstances I don't go very often, therefore I feel that it is not my right to Criticise the team or the manager. I am sure though that the club are doing the right thing in the way that the wage structure and the set up is. We all want success, but for me not at the sake of the club!!
A4D: here is your first assessment of Onuoha. It's been some time since he had regular first team football anywhere, don't forget. He hardly covered himself in glory during his stint at The Hammers. From what I saw of him and from reports I heard and read, he was very ordinary at best. Here is your second one: Don't really know enough about Onuoha, other than knowing who he is, which is a refreshing change on it's own I suppose.
Bridge had a loan spell at The Hammers last season and wasn't up to much by all accounts,it was him I was refering to in the first part of my post. The last part was with ref to Onuoha.
A4D: sorry, you're right. I failed to spot the WB and therefore associated the City player you referred to with Onuoha. If only MM would admit his mistakes so readily!
A4D: in fact, I am really pleased that you did not damn him in your post because, if so, that would have put me off him. Of course, if he does go to QPR, I hope he really is as poor as WB was at WHU!
No problem SB.I could see what had happened, it's the initialing of names(...and fieled positions....and names of grounds, managers and everything else!) business that gets a bit confusing at times. It's not that i've anything against Onuoha coming here, from what I can glean he has a pretty good rep, it's just that he's been in and out of the squad at City through injuries and I didn't study him too closely at Sunderland to have much of an opinion on him there, either;his goal at Chelsea aside. We all know about Bridge and his career of warming benches, though. He hasn't played regularly since he was at The Saints and that's some time ago now.Seems rather risky considering the finances required to land him.
I agree and I suspect that MM does too.
Lets hope so!
