Wolves fans hurt Albrighton's feelings

Poor little Marc Albrighton! The nasty Wolves fans hurt the Aston Villa players feelings last Saturday!

We should all hang our collective heads in shame because the Wolves fans who chanted towards Marc Albrighton and booed him after the Karl Henry incident hurt the little fella's feelings.

Obviously Karl Henry was guilty of kicking out at Albrighton and he has since apologised to McCarthy, the squad, the fans and pretty much anyone who will listen and will now sit out a three-match suspension.

But Albrighton did appear to make a bit of a meal out of the whole thing although he claims he was winded.

'It was pretty hard and it winded me. It's something I wouldn't want again.' he told the Daily Mail.

When asked how he felt about being branded a cheat he continued: 'It hurts, definitely, when I read the papers on Sunday and Monday. It does hurt a lot, especially when people in the crowd call you a cheat when I was the victim, on the floor getting kicked.

Poor fella.

What did he expect? Henry was wrong to back-heel him (and didn't we suffer for it) but it was a mere brush-stroke. Albrighton (a disgrace to my old home) writhed around as if he had been kicked in the balls, clearly intending to get our lovable Karl sent off.

Think that he's still rolling now. Judges all gave him 10's but you don't stamp someone on the floor. Henry has apologised to everyone except Marc....

AV fans: I have already agreed that Henry's action was wrong and that he had to go. And, in a post in an earlier thread expressed my annoyance at Henry's action. My complaint with Albrighton is his exaggerated reaction to what was a slight touch (and I have reviewed it) which was intended solely to influence the referee. And he still claims that he is sore! Recently, we have suffered grievously at the hands of play-acting opponents who have got away with cheating. Not only did Arteta of Arsenal make a meal of the fair tackle that resulted in Milijas's dismissal, he didn't even rub the spot that Milijas supposedly hit. Seconds later he was on his feet, limp-free and taking the free-kick. Then there was Lampard's scything tackle against Hammill, for which he only received a yellow. Such behaviour should be ... er ... stamped out of the game.

Henry was an idiot, but Marc definitely made the most of the contact....but hey ho.....we've been on the other end plenty, so if you are stupid enough to get sucked in......

Southbank60 - answer is simple. If Henry didn't kick out then we wouldn't even be talking about this, so I don't think you can really blame the Villa player here....

karl henry doesnt have a leg to stand on (groan) he lashed out, got himself sent off...what a knob... and we lost the game as a result. But lets spare a thought too for these weed-like nancy boys that constantly writhe around on the floor ... maybe we should have "Nonce of the year" awards, to the swan lake performance of a lifetime - that c*** albrighton is sure to be a contender. I was however happy to see honest players like Whittngham in the CC semi getting wiped out massively and instead of play-acting, got up and took the subsequent free kick, O-hara could easily have dived for us earlier in the season, I think Kaboul did a mid-air pirouette to in the Spurs / City game without bidding for a bafta... Kudos to these and all other honest footballers who are maintaining some semblance of dignity in the game.

Yup, he was an idiot and he deserved what he got. But, as an ex-rugby player, who played at the equivalent of current national league level, it saddens me to see such play-acting, even when untouched by an opponent. As I indicated in my previous post, it's a sore point with us at the moment.

This really didn't need to get headlined, I thought myself Marc acted out a bit too much, but there was obvious contact, it wasn't just a brush, remember these boots have studs on the bottom and he gave it a good little leg jerk with some force. But marc made the most of it still. Even if he didn't roll around it was still a red card.

LOL... it was in the diaphram, so it does wind and hurt but have to agree also with Southbank60, you don't get rugby players rolling around in agony like that. If you are really hurt, you go down and stay down ! Dennis Mortimer once told me the players in his day always tried their best to never show an opponent that they were hurt. Times have changed though, they all do it. Don't like it but they do all do it.

When I played rugby, boots with really big studs on them would fly in at you on the ground many times during the game. If we could take the hits withouf writhing about, surely highly tuned PL footballers can? It's all for effect and often it's downright cheating. Bugger it, next year I think I'll swap my season ticket at the Molineux for one at Llanelli, where I can see real men play (rugby) football.

Oh dear, would seem quite a few Villa fans cannot differentiate between some light hearted banter and actual malice. This story hasn't been deliberately given top billing, it's just the most recent article on the site on a slow news day, hence the reason why that incident has been covered for the fourth time on this website, with all previous articles pointing blame at Henry, so lets keep this all on context. The article praising Robbie Keane didn't seem to interest that many Aston Villa fans but one with a touch of sarcasm gets them all riled up.

to all the vile fans, at least he got up to run just like his fans all mouth wind and P, and not a brave bone in his body -just like his fans, he is a cheating piece of garbage, a coward - just like his team/fans, your plan was to get rid of the two best Midfielders on the day - one sent off, one carried off - cheating low life vile scum.
