'If It's Football, It's Vital'

McCarthy's 'debt of gratitude' to Morgan

Not quite the headlines many expected to be reading after Wolves owner Steve Morgan visited the dressing room after the defeat to Liverpool last week.

But a lot can change in a week in football and after a meeting between said owner and manager, that matter was supposedly resolved ahead of the game against QPR.

'Can I just say something about my owner though?' McCarthy asked Wolves Official Website before adding: 'We've won three games in 22 and I'm still here as the manager of Wolves.

'Let me tell you that is some level of support so let's not forget that.

'When everyone is writing negative stuff about me and Steve he has been as supportive as anyone else.

'I owe him a debt of gratitude for that.'

That said, tensions had to be frayed between the two and if Wolves had lost their third consecutive game at the weekend, or even extended their winless streak to 10 games, then who knows what might have been this week.

It would seem that as soon as Mick McCarthy appears to be on the brink and ready to go beyond the point of no return, the team pull out a win. It happened against Sunderland and it happened against QPR on Saturday.

The 3 points lifted Wolves out of the relegation places and sets up the ideal preparation for the Black Country Derby with West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

Vital Wolves Comment: Another 3 points against our rivals and that 5 point gap between us and the rest of the lower half clubs would dramatically shorten, potentially dragging a number of teams into the relegation scrap.

Akela the problem is Blackburn play QPR and Bolton play Wigan so the best thig that could happen is to draws and Wolves win which would put a bit of daylight between us and the bottom four. Also it would bring the Baggies in to the fight as well and dont forget Aston Villa their next match is a gainst MC it only puts us four points behind them if we win and they get beat.Bit of bad news Frimpong out for season with Crutiate ligament damage just when we thought things were picking up. But on a good point JOH is back and after sat looks revitalised after his enforced break saying that hopefully so does Doyle after his match winning performance.
kiawolves
Yeah, but with Frimpong returning to Arsenal through injury, our task just got a lot harder... 3 wins out of nearly 25 means a defeat looks on the cards, Johnson is *****, Stearman for some reason is making the starting 11 for some unbeknownst reason... That said, Doyle returning should offer us more going fwd, and optimistically I will go for a draw - which wont hep either of us. 2-2

Frimpong is a big loss!! Lets hope we can get him back for our Premier League campaign next season (ever the eternal optimist). Sunday’s team: WH,KF,RJ,SB,SW,DE,JOH,MK,MJ,SF,KD Sunday’s result: 2-2 UTW!!
BIG TASTY
I would go with that same squad, but drop RJ for CB
AdMant
After the Liverpool game I would have dropped Johnson too. But he did ok against QPR. The introduction of Bassong has changed the dynamic now, I think for the better. When Johnson played with Dann at Blues, Johnson was the one making the initial challenge (especially anything aerial) while Dann with his pace and intelligent reading of play would sweep and cover. Bassong with his assured touch and additional pace can undertake the Dann role. If we can get this right, we could see a tremendous improvement in our defensive capabilities. Berra has also been doing ok of late and I feel sorry for him losing his place. But the reality is, RJ is the big summer signing and captain and Mick is not going to drop him. I hope we take the Tesco's apart!!
BIG TASTY
Surely will recall Guedioura from Forest now as cover?,just our luck, hope Bassong lasts a bit longer!.UTW.
Crete Wolf
Crete Wolf why would we do that the guy is useless we have more than enough cover with JOH and KIGHTLY hopefully both fit for Sunday.
kiawolves
Because Kia, they are not holding midfielders,we will need Guedioura as cover for Henry.
Crete Wolf
I read some thing yesterday and not sure if we can because he was not named in 25 man squad not sure of the rules on this any one their who knows the anwser i thought when 25 man squad was submitted that was it. Did not think you could just add names just because some one is injured i thought you had to stick to the squad you selected any one under 21 yes.
