Wolves scouts take a look at Rhodes

Is Huddersfield`s Jordan Rhodes a target for Mick McCarthy's Wolves?

I've been left slightly baffled by this one, according to the Daily Mail 'Wolves have joined the chase for Huddersfield`s Jordan Rhodes'.

Now there is nowt wrong with that, he looks a good prospect on paper at least, but why would we join the chase days after the transfer window closing? Why not join the chase when you are actually physically able to sign the chap?

Rhodes has scored 29 times in 28 games this season and our Mick sent scouts to see him in the flesh for their weekend draw against MK Dons according to the paper, which probably resulted in this article.

(Incidentally Rhodes has scored 14 goals in his last 9, only failing to score in 2 games and the MK Dons game was one of the ones he hit a blank in!)

Our scouts could have been looking at anyone in reality, but Rhodes has been on our radar before so it could be a fair assumption.

Two years and four months ago I wrote this article entitled Wolves to sign the Colossus of Rhodes?, back then he was just 19-years-old and had joined Huddersfield Town 3 months earlier from Ipswich.

Since then he has gone on to score 74 goals in 128 games, which is one heck of a record and unsurprisingly he has been getting attention from clubs all over the country.

Vital Wolves Comment: The link to him isn't at all surprising, just the timing. If we were really interested in him, why wait until now? If you had a keen interest you would have made a move a week ago, now we have to wait till the summer and who knows who will be sniffing around him if he hits another 20 goals this season.

I for one have a problem with signing him one is he good enough for the PL, two will he get a game a head of SF and two will he get a game more importantly a head of Doyle who when on form is as good as any one and MM KEPT THE FAITH WITH.Now lets be honest when most of us wanted rid i agree we need another striker but i would have thought with at least some PL EXPERIENCE not from division one.He could be great then a gain he he could be another SEB brilliant in the championship but not up to the standard for the PL as his goals tally will tell you 46-47 in championship in two seasons i think 9-10 in three seasons in PL SAYS IT ALL. When Doyle not fireing still cant get a game dont need another one we need some one with PL calibre not an unknown in this league.

kiawolves Huddersfield are not in the Championship they are in the league below. Doesn't mean he couldn't make the step up though, otherwise we would never have signed Kites from non league.
