McCarthy leaves with head held high

Mick McCarthy can leave Wolves with his head held high according to Karl Henry.

Karl Henry was one of our Mick's first signings, the Wolves boy has gone on to captain the club and make 221 appearances since signing from Stoke for 100,000 in August 2006.

Henry also lifted the Championship trophy with Jody Craddock in May 2009 and has been named in previous England provisional squad by Fabio Capello (not bad for a Sunday league player eh Joey Barton).

Henry's career certainly took a positive turn under the guidance of Mick McCarthy and the combative midfielder praised his former manager as they said their goodbyes yesterday.

'He did wonders for the club. Before he came several managers had tried and failed to get Wolves up.' Karl Henry told Wolves Official Website.

He added: 'Dave Jones did well to get Wolves there but then they went back down.

'The gaffer did what no manager in the modern era had done by getting up and then staying up.

'He can certainly leave with his head held high.'
