Alan Curbishley remains the bookies favourite to take over at Molinuex, but is there a dark horse out there ready to surprise the bookies?
Alan Curbishley, Steve Bruce and Neil Warnock remain the three favourites to replace Mick McCarthy at Wolves.
Following his surprise sacking from League One side Huddersfield Town, Lee Clark has been installed as fourth favourite with some bookies, with odds as low as 7/2 with PaddyPower (the same odds that are available for Bruce).
The majority of the press are pushing on with stories that Curbishley is set to be interviewed by Moxey and Morgan later today, but there have been some recent calls for Gordon Strachan to be considered.
He wasn't even in contention a few days ago and was left off our own poll for who should be the next boss, but now he is closing in fast with some bookmakers and is ahead of the likes of Dougie Freedman, Billy Davies, Roy Keane, Rafa Benitez and Sven Goran Eriksson.
His odds with Sky Bet are as short as 25/1, still an outsider, but perhaps a later contender?
'Strach must be considered - he comes into the Warnock category. He would be capable of getting players fired up.' Big Ron Atkinson told the Shropshire Star.
He continued: "His greatest strength is in training players - he would have an impact. He has experience of big-match situations at Celtic and he will work hard and make sure everybody is very, very fit.
"He will work them hard on the training ground. Sometimes you might question his buying, as was the case at Middlesbrough of course, but that doesn`t come into play in this scenario.
So with all the candidates mentioned, who would Big Ron plump for? "Push me into a corner and I would go for either Strachan or Warnock because of their potential to bring an immediate impact. And that`s what Wolves need right now."
