Johnson fined over drinking binge

Wolverhampton Wanderers have disciplined captain Roger Johnson after the defender reported for training worse for wear on Monday.

Johnson allegedly hit the drink after Sunday`s 5-0 defeat to Fulham and was still suffering the effects of alcohol at the training ground, which was spotted by his team-mates.

The incident has been passed around the corridors of Molineux with manager Terry Connor initially informing chief executive Jez Moxey, who then told owner Steve Morgan.

It is expected he will be fined two weeks wages, which will cost the defender over £50,000.

'I can confirm that Roger was involved in a breach of club discipline on Monday, for which he has apologised and accepted his punishment.' Connor told Wolves Official Website.

He added: 'The matter has been resolved internally and the club will be making no further comment.'

Roger Johnson said: 'My conduct and approach to training on Monday was below the high standard the Club rightly needs and demands of me, and what I demand of myself.

'As a result of that I have apologised to the manager, my team-mates and the club.'

Well......funny you should say that because it was only mentioned last week how poorly thought of, Johnson was in the Birmingham dressing room. Apparently, he has a bit of an attitude......REALLY??????? Why doesn't that surprise me. Now....I have to be honest here and admit that I actually thought that RJ getting the Captains armband when he arrived was a good move. Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing?? I. Actually look at this whole situation and genuinely believe (IMHO) that he could be responsible for our poor season. We were still a team holding on to Prem status by our fingertips at the end of last season but what we lacked in skill we made up for in abundance With the Spirit that Stears was banging on about. Suddenly, RJ arrives.....gets the armband......has a few shockers and We as a Team look lacking in confidence, lacking in drive or energy. What's more.......the last couple of months we have actually looked beaten. We all know that TC isn't the guy to lead us forward but what he has seen is that there is clearly a problem in the dressing room and he has addressed it. Now.....is that actually good management or is it just that he is aware of fans views and therefore thought it would look good is anyone's guess. I like to think that he has actually seen RJ for what he is..an overpaid prema- Donna who's mouth writes cheques that his body can't cash. I think he must be sold in the summer regardless of what happens to us as a club. He is a destabilising influence in the team and thatbcan't be good.

Bid deal. He turned up for work the worse for wear. If I had a quid for evertime i'd been a little under the weather and/or seen mates turn up in a state on a monday morning, I could get a few rounds in.What you having, Rog?
