Wolves confirm Sigurdarson signing

The signing of 21-year-old striker Björn Bergmann Sigurdarson has now been officially confirmed by Wolves.

The deal was agreed last week, but Wolves have waited until now to confirm that the deal has been agreed with Norwegian Premier League club Lillestrom.

Strangely the official website report that he will sign a four-year deal once he has agreed personal terms and passed a medical.

Now obviously passing a medical is obvious, especially as he will continue to play for his current club over the next month, but surely agreeing the length of contract you are going to sign is a major part to agreeing personal terms, so that part of the deal sounds a foregone conclusion to us!

He becomes Ståle Solbakken's first signing as manager of Wolves.

'I am very pleased that an agreement has been reached for us to sign Björn, He is an exciting young prospect who has the quality to help us achieve our aims both in the short and long term.' Solbakken told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: 'We look forward to the deal being completed next month after which Björn will be able to join us as we prepare for the new season.'

I am very happy to see a young hungry and apparently talented player coming in to bolster our attack. That said, if SS has watched those DVDs he will know that a priority is 2 or 3 defenders...

I too am chuffed about this, I hear what you say AdMant but we got to strike whilst the irons hot etc....they maybe are resigned to losing Fletch so have replaced him first. I have a good feeling about SS!!!

I thought it appropriate to relaunch my post on a previous BBS thread. Thanks to SS we have acquired a tasty young striker, presumably as a replacement for Fletcher. As I noted before, news of the signing will weaken our bargaining position over the sale of SF because it tells other clubs that we want to move him on. Conversely, we could sell Doyle and deploy BBS and SF as joint strikers in a 4-4-2 formation. I suppose it depends on SF's attitude and the money offered for him but primarily the former. In any event, Fletcher will not go before mid-July when a FIT BBS arrives at Molineux. I'll cross my fingers in the meantime. On a personal note my daughter completed a successful signing to a new teaching post today and, as my wife is so happy, I might be in luck this evening.

SB60 i disagree SF has never mentioned a bout leaving and we dont need to sell if we are going to sell it has to be the strikers who can not score goals. Vokes and E Banks should be the ones to go now just a brand new defence and a couple of good midfielders and well be flying back to the PL.

Kiawolves: you are right about Fletcher, though, given the shabby way we treated him in his first season with us, I would not blame him for wanting to leave. It seems that he would have stayed at Burnley too but money talked. We are not in the same desperate position (though I would argue that we would not have been in the desperate PL position we found ourselves in, had we ventured a little more of our stored capital and had not diverted it from onfield investment). [slot for JohnWolf's reply, starting, 'You f******' and ending 'no Wolves supporter'] I hope he stays and, if so, I would agree that SEB and SV are the most likely candidates to go, though would Doyle relish a season of reserve football? Trappatoni would throw a wobbly! As it's nearly time for the kick-off, I do not expect a reply this evening.

SB60 i hope you got as lucky as England last night lol i agree maybe we should have spent more but would have you trusted Merlin to buy the right players.What we needed was spending on certain areas of the team with a bit more quality in jan who did we buy Johnsson that nobody had heard of. The tansfer window the Jan before was the same we went out and bought Hamill another one proved to be not good enough. What happened to the quality he kept on spouting about to improve the team for three seasons we struggled and finally paid the price for Merlins naivety in thinking these players were good enough and not spending on quality PL players. i had said in a report before that two thirds of the team that played the last match of the season were in the championship winning team and that was three seasons ago and their lay the problem. Championship players who after three seasons were still no better than when we first got into the PL and that was Merlins fault and in the end paid the price with his job. We need to keep SF,MJ,JOH,WH, even for one more season and if we dont get back up then let them go as for the rest take your pick.IF SS has watched those DVDS he will know who he needs to keep and who can go.
