The Vital Wolverhampton Wanderers users summer interviews are back! Tell us what you think This website is 100% by the fans and we are always looking for people to get involved. If this interests you please contact Vital Wolves.
With Euro 2012 ending with heart break for England on penalties once again, we thought we would shift our focus away from the European Championships, Wimbledon and the Olympics and back on to Wolverhampton Wanderers challenge on the Championship this August!
We want to hear your views and then via our sometimes lively article comments, we want everyone else to discuss your points and basically keep us entertained over the next month and a bit of no football!
Following on from tom_s we have Lincs Wolf, who has also sent in his answers.
In response to Tom`s question (What ground are you most looking forward to visiting again?): I can`t wait to visit the City Ground when we play Forest. It`s only an hour from my home and it`s sure for a good atmosphere. I wonder if they have forgiven us for that Michael Branch goal yet?
Number 1: In your view, what were the three key areas (on and off the pitch) that resulted in our relegation from the Premier League.
A. Player spats. Wolves seemed to have such a solid close-knit group of players that worked very hard for each other. Ultimately I believe the root cause of the problems were stripping Karl Henry of the captaincy. He appeared to have the respect of all of the players and there was always likely to be a revolt against someone new coming in and upsetting the harmony.
B. Mick McCarthy`s fear of change. I feel he should have given fringe (Hammill, Guedioura, Milijas) and youth players more of a chance. We all know he has his favourites but when things weren`t going our way he should have given them a chance. Same goes for formations.
C. Losing Frimpong. I feel he could really have been a hero last season. He was energetic, imaginative and combative - just what the Molineux needed. I really wish him the best for the future.
Number 2: Since our relegation has the club resolved any of these points to your satisfaction?
A. We will have to see who goes before that is answered.
C. Not yet.
Number 3: If the season kicked off today, do Wolves have the players, management and staff to earn promotion back to the Premier League?
I am thoroughly looking forward to next season and I believe the current crop are good enough to bounce back, but I don`t expect a lot of them to be with us come August.
Number 4: If you were Ståle Solbakken what position would be your priority to strengthen?
Centre Half. But I believe he may have this sorted in the shape of Danny Batth. I really hope he gets the nod next season and then we buy a new experienced centre half to play alongside him.
Number 5: Anyone in particular in mind?
I`m sure there are plenty of decent centre halves in the Danish / Norwegian leagues Ståle has his eye on.
Number 6: Who would you be desperate to get rid of and why?
Roger Johnson - Too much damage has been caused.
Hunt - Has never reached his potential for us (apart from that goal against Blackburn).
Berra - Too slow and sick of watching him wrestle strikers to the ground for 90mins.
Fletcher and Jarvis - If we can get £15+ for the pair I think that is good business.
Henry - I do like Karl Henry but I don`t see where he fits in. I think Davis has more to offer us.
Edwards - Again I like him but just lacks that quality.
Number 7: Out of the three relegated sides who do you think is the best equipped to offer a promotion challenge?
I think Blackburn. Assuming they can keep the nucleus of their team they will do well. The signing of Danny Murphy for free is a shrewd but of business.
Number 8: Out of the sides in the Championship who do you think will win the title?
I really can`t decide as it`s a very strong league. I think Leicester may come good this year and will be the ones to beat.
Number 9: Who will be relegated?
Peterborough, Barnsley and Bristol City.
Number 10: What question would you like to ask the Vital Wolves users who are responding to your interview?
What does everyone think about the new shirt? I personally really like it (shame about the sponsor`s logo).
Thanks to Lincs Wolf for keeping the ball rolling and sending in his interview!
Feel free to discuss his points and answer his Number 10 politely, we're all on the same side don't forget!
If you would like to take part in this feature please send in your replies to the above nine questions and think of an original number ten to ask our Vital Wolves users!
Send them directly to us via our Vital Wolves by email address or post your answers on on the forum.
