Another striker to Wolves?

Surely this has to be just another nonsense transfer rumour? Could Wolves really be about to target another striker?

Some Wolves fans will already tell you that we have too many strikers at the club and questions have already been asked over the possible futures of Ebanks-Blake and Vokes, while many believe it's only a matter of time before Steven Fletcher leaves Molineux.

That said, if and when he does, would we need another forward? The Daily Mail certainly believe we do and have linked us with Nigeria striker Stephen Makinwa.

The 28-year-old has left Lazio as a free agent after hardly featuring for the Italian side since he joined them in 2006.

Over the past four years he has been out on loan to the likes of Reggina, Chievo and Larissa, but he's hardly been prolific, scoring two league goals.

Despite that the paper believes that ourselves and Bolton are interested in snapping him on a free transfer.

Vital Wolves Comment: While I can understand that Ståle Solbakken may want to mix things up and could well be targeting his own type of player, surely there are other more pressing areas of the squad to improve upon?

Perhaps this is a smoke-screen and the real business of finding a complete set of defenders is progressing in secrecy. They will all have christian names like Arne, Bendt and Bjorn (but surely not the guy from ABBA).

We're being linked with every striker going. Apparently Makinwa is a bit of a journeyman too? I think Griffiths, Vokes, Fletcher will all be on their way. Leaving Doyle, Sigurdarson, Nouble, Ebanks-Blake.

86lobo77 - plus we have the kids coming through like winnall, on the defence side according to the E&S we are after Stefan Savic from Man city possibly on a season long loan - but as usual there are obstacles?
johnwolf
Stefan Savic ? I like the sound of that ... dont much checkout the B&S any more...

I agreen JohnWolf - I think Cassidy could also get a few runs out next season, he scored a few on loan at Tranmere towards the back end of last season. Savic would be a good signing, but surely Man City would want him to be gaining Premier League experience, and he must be good enough?
86lobo77
Savic may not have a Nordic name but I like the sound of it. He would be a good signing. However, if we are sceptical about the reports of strikers, we should be equally circumspect when reading about potential defensive recruits of ability.

As far as I know the 'news' that the EU is to ban bent bananas from sale has yet to bear fruit- no matter how many times Mein Kampf attempts to tell us different. The scaremongering rag that is the DM has a long and proud tradition of (other than supporting fascists) printing total s***e. Although, the fact that he doesn't score many does tend to add some varacity to the story.

Starting the season with Doyle and SEB as our main strike-force would be fine by me. I think KD is too highly regarded by too many people, though, for there to be no moves made on him this close season. I know a lot of people have had a downer on SEB since we were promoted but I think he's more likely to score a net-full of goals in the championship, than not.So, if Fletch and Doyle do leave, it's not as if we're optionless up front. As most have said, it's at the other end of the pitch where our real problems lay.
winstonsmith84
Strictly speaking, WS84, we do not have any problems at the other end of the pitch because we do have a very good goalie!
Southbank60
Although I don't believe he is a Prem Striker, SEB can't be held accountable for the lat few seasons as he hasn't really played that much. He is proven in the Championship but has it been too long for him. BBS will get his chance probably alongside Doyler. I want to see some action at the rear of the Team....Savic would be a start but still feel we need another signing. Hopefully some of the young lads will get their break.

Round of applause for your comments on the DM there Winston. The paper talk, whichever one it may be will of course continue at breakneck speed. Savic I think would be a great signal of intent as has been the signing of the Icelander. Believe it when the papers have been signed however. As for this one, 2 goals in four years. There was a football career for each of us after all. 2 goals indeed.

On the bright side are they not back in training in about a week. At least the Euro's have had the summer break running quick. Although 50 is clearly far too many I do not believe the manager is going to be told he can't sign a quality player until he has shipped a few out (as suggested by the Express and *****e). If think if a quality player is there for the taking they will make the move. There is plenty of time to trim that 50 down. The main concern is how the hell we are going to deal with getting rid of Roger Johnson who's both names incidentally describe him equally well; a tool.
