Solbakken names new first team coach

Ståle Solbakken has named a new first team coach to join his backroom team.

It had been previously reported that Solbakken's assistant at former clubs Copenhagen and Cologne, Barnd Wiggen, had been Solbakken's preferred choice, until Wiggen made it clear he was unwilling to make the move to England.

So with that avenue no longer available, Solbakken went back to former club FC Copenhagen to sign up 32-year-old Danish coach Johan Lange.

Lange had worked as youth team coach and assistant coach at Copenhagen, but his arrival at Molineux will not signal the end for Terry Connor who will be continuing as assistant manager.

'We have previously stated that Ståle was going to be bringing in a coach to supplement our backroom staff and are delighted to welcome Johan to the Club.' Wolves CEO Jez Moxey said to Wolves Official Website.

Solbakken added: 'When I knew that we would be able to bring Johan in he was the coach I wanted to come and work with me at Wolves.

'He can work with the players on the training ground, but can also be looking at players and the opposition - he has a very good eye for football.

'He will be there with Terry to assist me and I am looking forward to working with him again.'

Vital Wolves Comment: A new manager will always bring in new people to work alongside him and a fresh approach will be needed at Molineux.

It will be interesting to see what different ideas will be visible on the pitch considering he only has experience of football in Denmark.

Scratching my head! I don't get it! Is it just me? But if we are to 'freshen' things up, as it had become all to familiar and Stale (no pun), then a new manager, assistant and back room staff to back up and believe in the managers philosophies to filter into the players in the way they are to play the game would be the way to go... It all just feels a bit half measured... Commit and have a go or just don't bother.

I still have a feeling that if McCarthy get's a new job he will be calling on Terry. Then Lange would step in as assistant manager.

I think JL will be his right hand man and Terry will either have the decency to ***** off, or they will get rid of him. He has no place at this club anymore.
