Solbakken wants best players to stay

Ståle Solbakken opened the new Molineux megastore yesterday and then declared that he didn't want to lose any of his top players.

Hardly surprising really and what else is he likely to say at this stage, when the likes of Steven Fletcher and Kevin Doyle are being linked with moves away from Wolverhampton every other day in the media?

"I will talk to all the players when they come in one-to-one. But that`s normal and not anything to do with players leaving.

"Fletcher and Doyle are experienced players we want to continue having here.' he told the Birmingham Post.

If we do have any want-away players then we have to be seen as being in a strong financial position to maximise any possible transfer deal.

We don't want to lose anyone, but if we do, we want to maximise the transfer income as much as realistically possible and that's the balance that stands in front of our new Norwegian gaffer.

He continued: 'everyone knows that in football money talks so I can`t promise anything. They are players of great value for us and at this moment in time they are Wolves players.

"And I hope they will be at the start of the season."

Vital Wolves Comment: He's certainly saying all the right things, but there isn't a much to go from in terms of guessing who might be staying and who might be leaving.

Previous reports that Fletcher was mulling over the idea of handing in a transfer request to speed up the process of a move back to the Premier League have been denied with Fletcher tweeting whilst on holiday: 'I ain't put no transfer request in only request I put in just now was for a side of fries with my chicken wrap at the pool #sisu #marbs'
