Wolves to offer Johnson a lifeline?

At some clubs Roger Johnson's reported behaviour over recent months would guarantee that he would be shown the door.

But with a new gaffer in the form of Ståle Solbakken, Roger Johnson could well be given a Molineux lifeline, if he is willing to take the olive branch handed to him by his new Norwegian boss.

"I don`t know him more or less than anyone. Everybody who wants to fight and put things behind them has a chance," Solbakken said to the Birmingham Mail.

He continued: "Obviously I`ve heard some stories but I don`t place too much on that.

"It`s up to him - if he wants to fight for Wolves and have his 'revenge`, then that`s a possibility."

So it would seem at least that when a clean slate is discussed, it really is a clean slate for Solbakken and new coach Johan Lange.

But will Johnson be given a clean slate by his team-mates and other members of the coaching staff?

Vital Wolves Comment: If all the reports that you can read on the internet are true then you would think that the situation couldn't be resolved? But perhaps things have been greatly exaggerated?

Freudian slip with the headline Akela?! Wolves to 'off' Johnson a lifeline. I'd say 90% of respondents on the Express & Star want him out the door yesterday but you can't really argue with the manager's approach to it. He will figure it out soon enough........ or will Johnson be falling and flailing around again next season? I'm interested on folks views of this situation.

Personally I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. We all know how bad he was last season so that debate is dead. Has last season given him enough of a kick up the butt to come back and knuckle down....time will tell. Can SS get him involved and integrating with the team? I'd love to see him succeed because it means we are succeeding. I would however, remove the Captaincy from him.

I imagine SS will be bringing in a few from over the water and probably sign a captain of his own, maybe. From here or there. Some of his behavior has been out of order to say the least, clapping the away fans instead of ours? but I argued all season that he looked good first couple of games then his mind (and game) was shot with whatever nonsense was being put through at training. We'll see. A very good player who consistently performed well for ten years does not suddenly become awful.

But he was painfully slow, lacked positional sense, was easily turned and panicked under pressure. He also proved to be a disruptive influence on the team. But apart from that ...

All such talents were indeed on display Mr. Banks. He did the business for a good ten years prior however so I simply wonder how he turned into the player we had to watch. It is going to be interesting what form he shows whether it be with us or someone else. I would prefer to take a loss and get rid of him personally. I can't however see anyone interested in taking him.
