Wolves miss out on Demidov

When Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey spoke about Vadim Demidov earlier this week, he didn't sound too confident about the prospect of the defender signing.

Wolverhampton Wanderers held personal talks with Vadim Demidov on Tuesday after agreeing a fee with Real Sociedad for the 25-year-old central defender.

But after the Norwegian International had flown into England with his agent to hold talks with Moxey, the CEO played down our chances of agreeing a deal.

'It`s still ongoing at the moment,' Moxey told the Shropshire Star on Wednesday afternoon.

He continued: 'Hopefully we`ll have something to say in the next 24 to 48 hours, but it`s not as clear-cut as some people would like it to be.

'There`s interest in him from other clubs and we`re looking at other targets as well.'

Wolves had agreed a fee of around £1million for the former Rosenborg man, but faced competition from German club Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken believes the German side will win the battle for his signature.

"Wages are a little bit higher there (at Eintracht Frankfurt) but also the bonuses are higher.' Solbakken told the Shropshire Star.

He continued: "Perhaps the bonus system there was the difference. I think we were pretty close to that one but he had a lot of offers.

"But as far as coming here, I don`t think the conversation went to plan."

well, keep on trying Stale, we simply cant go on with our current back 4, useless at prem level, and will be little better at this level. Ship them out and ship em fast.

If money was the motivation then we don't need him. I'm sure we have a few more iron in the fire.

Looks like this one has gone and because of money so so bet it. He must have a list and two things, whilst I am glad Jody got the extra year look like he probably won't sniff a game. Secondly he probably has a list of at least another half dozen to look out. The have shown intent turning down the Zubar deal which I think is great because it can only mean them offering him a new contract- also if he is talking to them one and one he will know by now Zubes was signed as a centre half. Griffiths first waste of space out of the door and Nate has already left so bit by bit we are chopping away at it. I still cringe when I see TC on the training field with them. In his press so far the gaffer seems to have his finger on the trigger so like the other dead wood I don't think it will be long before TC is sent on his way, or with a bit more grace picked up by Mick. Shame the Forest move fell through.
