'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Matt Given All Clear

Mick McCarthy has put all Wolves fans mind's at rest by confirming influential 'keeper Matt Murray's injury is not as serious as first believed.

Matt was withdrawn in the last five minutes of Wolves 1-0 victory over Luton on Saturday as a precautionary measure, after falling awkwardly, jarring his right knee.

But following treatment Mick McCarthy is ready to throw him back into the fray against Leeds a week on Sunday.

'It's nothing serious,' Mick said. 'We wanted to take a proper look at it before we made a decision, but there's no need for a scan. It's just bruising and that's a bit of a relief. With Matt's history, I can understand why there was concern, but thankfully he'll be all right.'

Mick McCarthy wasn't the only person relieved by th diagnosis. The big man himself breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Speaking to the club's website Matt said :

"I landed with a straight leg after collecting a cross and jarred my knee,"

"I've had trouble with the knee in the past and I was concerned when I felt a sharp pain after I'd landed badly on it. I couldn't lock it or bend it without feeling pain.

"But it seems to have settled down now. Rest and an ice pack seems to have done the trick and our masseur, Mark James, worked on it yesterday and freed it up.

"With no game for almost two weeks, there's no need to rush things. I am feeling very positive and hopefully I'll be back in full training by next Monday."

Get better soon Matt. Very soon.
