Update on Fletcher move

The majority of reports are now suggesting that Sunderland's bid for Wolves striker Steven Fletcher is £10million.

Burnley are due 15% of any profit Wolves can achieve on a deal to sell the Scottish striker, so after purchasing him for £7million and selling him for around £10million, Burnley would receive £450,000, leaving Wolves with a healthy profit of just over £2.5million.

That bid is bang on the money in terms of how much the Independent newspaper thought was our asking price.

With that in mind the Express & Star have reported that the bid is under consideration, although chief executive Jez Moxey wasn't exactly welcoming the bid.

"We`re not getting drawn on offers for players in or out," said Moxey to the E&S.

He continued: "Our best players are not for sale; we want to keep them and build the strongest possible team for the season ahead.

"We will do everything we can to retain the players we want to keep and continue to look to strengthen with new signings."

The reason behind Jez's wording was because it has now been revealed that we have also recently received interest for Dorus De Vries, Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly.

De Vries is being monitored by Liverpool, while it is not known who has put in bids for both Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly, although Stoke and Fulham have previously been linked.

All these figures indicate nothing. The turning point will come about, can only come about, if the player indicates decisively that he wants a move. Up to now, Jez and whoever else is involved, are doing a great job holding on to him.

From what I have read etc he does not want to move up north , lets face it if its not Newcastle who would , as Sunderland are a poor mans Newcastle lol , Personally if your a club as fortunate as us that does not need to sell then the players who relegated us should be the ones to get us back up , loyalty and a sense of pride but we all know money talks in football !
