Player Search Hots Up

There are now 2 and a half days to go untiul the cloise of the transfer window and Mick McCarthy is showing no signs of letting up in his search to bring new blood to Wolverhampton.

High on Mick's wishlist are a new left winger, and another defender, with Brighton's teenage centreback Joel Lynch being tipped as Mick's main target.

6'1 Lynch made his full debut last season against Southampton, and since that time has made 21 appearances , scoring one goal, and has impressed manager Mark McGhee with his mature attitude.

But with the likes of West Ham and Watford also showing interest, bidding for the youngsters signature is bound to be fierce.

McCarthy is also rumoured to be tracking unsettled Birmingham City duo Martin Taylor and Julian Gray.

26 year old Tay;lor has fallen well down the pecking order at Blues since his £1.4 million transfer from Blackburn, and fits the bill for a spescialist centre back whilst Gray can't even make Birmingham's squad, let alone first eleven.

A natural left footer, Gray left Crystal Palace in 2004 on a Bosman free transfer, and can operate anywhere down the left hand flank.

But with Steve Bruce unwilling to lose players from his already strong squad, any move for either would need to be at a price possibly out of Mick McCarthy's range.
