Solbakken set for spending spree

Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken set for spending spree.

If reports are to be believed Wolves will eventually receive around £10,750,000 for the sale of Matt Jarvis to West Ham United and £14,000,000 for the sale of Steven Fletcher to Sunderland.

The duo were both at their new clubs yesterday discussing personal terms and holding medicals after Wolves agreed fees for both of them.

Some of that money will be drip fed into the Molineux bank account as they include various add-on clauses probably related to appearances, goals and international appearances (or hopefully not in regards to Fletcher).

While some of the money will also be heading straight back out with Burnley due a sell-on clause to the value of 15% of the profit that we have made on Fletcher, while Gillingham are also due a sell-on for the sale of Jarvis.

But that should still leave a hefty junk of profit left over for Wolves and some of that will obviously be re-invested into the squad or at least Ståle Solbakken hopes so!

"If we want to compete, then we have to spend some of that money because you can`t replace Fletcher with one player and say someone will do the same job he would have done." he told the Express.

You would also have to assume that he was only discussing the Fletcher deal at the time, because not many would think that Jarvis is easily replaceable either and the gaffer must surely be looking at bringing in at least two new faces with the cash?

What happens to the money generated by the sales is as much a test of the board's priorities as it is of SS's ability to select the quality players needed to improve the squad. Specifically, JM and SM have to make the bulk of the cash immediately available to Stale so that we can push for promotion with a reasonable chance of success. Top of the list are a CD and a LB, ones who will stop us haemorrhaging points through the holes of our leaky defence.

I had also been thinking (aside from requiring the obvious) we would also need a new LM to replace Jarvo. But I wonder if Stale is quite happy to make do for the time being until O'Hara is fit? I can't see JOH getting in ahead of Henry or Doumbia, and he wanted to play a little narrower. Maybe an option.

We have got to get better defensively, surely.??!! The players, there, have had plenty of opportunity but the way we conceded at Leeds was just desperate!! Time to replace with some quality, methinks!! Quit surprised we havnt secured any 'on-loaners' as part of the Jarvis/fletcher deals..but there's still time, i suppose.

Anyone know if this guy Margreitter is any good? We are apparently being linked to this CB from Austria Vienna

Ok the club has just announced the departure of jarvis and the arrival of Margreitter so I hope he is good!

Never heard of Tongo, pez or Siggy till a few weeks ago. Stale seems to have an eye for a decent player so should be ok.
