BREAKING: Boukari signs up

BREAKING: Boukari signs up

Ståle Solbakken has made his sixth signings as Wolves boss, making a second swoop on French club Rennes.

Previously Solbakken has taken Tongo Doumbia on a season-long loan from Rennes but this time Solbakken has signed 25-year-old Togolaise international Razak Boukari on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Boukari is a versatile attack minded player, capable of playing all across midfield and up front.

"I play in midfield, on the right or the left, and also have the possibility to play as a striker too.

"I think I have good speed to try and take players on and am also good with my head too.' he told Wolves Official Website.

He has scored seven goals in 38 appearances for Rennes over the past two years and is looking to get on the scoresheet more often following his move to the Championship.

He continued: "I know it is not the Premier League but that is not a problem because I just want to play football and hopefully I can do that at Wolves.

"I want to contribute and score goals and help the team do well. - and we want to aim for promotion.

"I know there is pressure and fans wanting us to do well but that is good and I will enjoy it."

Boukari has already had a look around Molineux as he was at the ground ahead of our game with Derby, now that the deal has completed he is expected to return to Wolverhampton tomorrow to join up with the squad.

But he does have the advantage of having some familiar faces around the place, because as well as knowing Tongo Doumbia he also knows Steven Mouyokolo and Ronald Zubar.

Vital Wolves Comment: Apparently this could be the first of a few faces joining this week. So what do we make of the squad that Solbakken is assembling, what position do you think he should strengthen next?

As stated in an earlier post SS will have players he knows of to bring in and as we have lost a player he has one lined up for that position. My only thought is that with players coming from abroad generally, can take some time to find their feet, which makes me feel next season rather than this will be our push for promotion.. But if we get there stronger, then thats fine with me.

Problem is we don't know these players till they turn up but going on SS' previous signings we could be in for a good season once they have settled in. They are more used to playing the European way too so should suit SS' style. Let the European revolution continue. UTW!!!!!!

So far Stale's acquisitions have improved the squad and I expect the trend to continue. Doumbia has been a revelation and, incidentally, has given Henry a new lease of life (he was missed on Saturday). Peszko looks good and with Boukari, another aggressive wideman on the other wing, I think we will not regret the departure of Kightly or Jarvis too much (and the money helps to soften the blow). Indeed, if Boukari can calibrate his crosses reasonably well, he will be an improvement on MJ. Naturally, I do not demand miracles overnight just as long as they happen on a regular basis by 16 September when I travel to my first match. Of course, apart from the time it will take for the new look Wolves to gel, we still have to strengthen our back four. We do need a new LB and RB and there's a lot riding on the shoulders of the young Austrian CD, Georg Margreitter, at the moment. Even so, I expect others will come in by the end of the transfer window. We also need a creative midfielder: we could have done with Milijas on the pitch on Saturday and I reckon he would flourish within SS's set-up. And there's the 'small' matter of a replacement for Fletcher (and possibly Doyle). Sigurdarson is bound to feature more prominently in the coming weeks, especially if SEB does not recapture his old Championship form ... but another signing would help. We have the money.

Stales new signings are really good, but will they get a game all I have seen is his signings warming the bench, we have two strikers sat on there backsides while Doyle continues to play the same role as last season ok he scored on Saturday against Derby but how often have we celebrated a goal from him, he is a midfielder at best and we have plenty of them including our new signing who looks the bees knees, what we need is a left back and quick as I think Wardys time might be up and Doyls if the rumours are correct and I for one will not lose any sleep Stale needs to stamp his inlfuence on the team and give his new signings a chance as I believe the players inherited by Mick are not up to the challenge of what Stale requires of them, Henry was missed on Saturday and for me that sums the old Wolves up, a lot of fans do not rate him me included, the only places that were taken up was that of Jarvis and Henry, basicly its the same dross minus Jarvis, Kightly and Fletcher so I would rather see Stales signings and I hope he does just that and sooner than later

I largely agree with you, davies09 ... though there's no out-and-out striker among the new recruits. Rumour has it that Kenwyne Jones is in the frame.

SB Milijas , thats made me chuckle , you dont rate Ward as a LB but you consider Milijas to be creative ??? seriously ??? , he only appears in games for 10 minutes and I cant remember many assists Milijas has ever made to be honest !

And SB Jones would be a good signing but why sign Nouble if thats the case ??? , he would have to go out on loan I suppose , WHEN WHEN WHEN is Zele Ismail going to get a look in , the kids a genius !!!

WTW: I don't rate SW as a left back, though I take your point about the need to cover Berra that you make in a post elsewhere (and see my comments about SW there). I also think that until our recent acquisitions Ned was our only midfielder with vision and the ability to make the killer pass. Last season O'Hara's passing was very sloppy. He became very self-indulgent in his play. However, like you, I could see Milijas's faults and that for all his vision he needed too much time to consider and execute his passes. And he was poor in defence. Regarding Jones, I did not comment on his ability rather only referred to the rumour that he was in the frame.
