Doyle never wanted to leave

There isn't much loyalty in the modern game any more, but Kevin Doyle has quite publicly shown that there is still some floating about.

The Republic of Ireland international was one of the many big names players who people thought would be the first out of the Molineux door once relegation from the Premier League was confirmed for Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.

But whilst the likes of Steven Fletcher, Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly were running for the exits once they got wind of interest elsewhere, Kevin Doyle was not one to have his head turned.

He rebuffed the approaches from former club Reading and whilst other Premier League clubs like Everton were linked, he was always clear in his mind that he was happy to stay and Jez has complimented Doyle for his loyalty to the cause.

"The big positive for us with Kevin was that he never fell into that category of 'I want away`, There was interest in him and one or two Premier League clubs called us about him and he was aware of it.' Wolves CEO Jez Moxey told Wolves Official Website.

He added: "But at no point did he say 'I want to leave` and he deserves great credit for that.

"There were enquiries and they were from established Premier League clubs but Kevin said all along that he was strictly behind us and that sort of commitment is to be praised.'
