Who will be Wolves top scorer this season?

Which of our strikers will top the goal scoring list at the end of the season?

That's the question sent in by longtime Vital Wolves user astraltrader.

And as it's been a while since we had an active front page poll we thought we'd open it up for a bit more debate as a front page article.

astraltrader put forward Kevin Doyle, Ebanks-Blake, Bjorn Sigurdarson and Frank Nouble as contenders. Do you agree with that list and if not, who else do you think should be in the reckoning?

Based on current form surely Sako should be on that list. His shooting from range seems to have had a positive effect not just on the results of games, but also on the other players. Doyle is starting to pull the trigger a lot more frequently now outside the area too. Very encouraging!! UTW!!

... and Doumbia. Both he and Sako can score from outside the box. At the moment we need their goals because our two strikers are not sticking it in the net enough times for my liking. Doyle will come good before long because he is getting back to his best form, is allowed more freedom on the pitch than last year and has been unlucky so far. We can still marvel at his value as a team player: his control of the ball, his pace with it at his feet, his flick-ons and lay-offs and the accuracy of his passing. SEB will probably score more goals but he is not as good a player as he was when he won two golden boot awards last time round. Siggy will improve during the course of the season but he needs more match-time before significantly raising his goal count. Nouble will score one or two as well and, if he had more control of the ball (and his legs), I would give him a greater chance when we rotate the squad.

I'm going with Sako (someone else)

I really like Nouble from what i've seen of him so far. He's a bit awkward and I suspect could be a real donkey at times (as in missing sitters), but I think he's one of those players that will nab you a really scrappy goal at a really crucial juncture in a match. Doumbia is a player too. Imagine him and Frimpong playing together. Shame about him.

Thanks Akela. On reflection perhaps I should have included Sako in my list although I suppose he is covered by the someone else option. I think our top scoring actual striker will be either Doyle or Sigurdarson depending on how many starts the youngster ends up getting this season.

I would like to know on the question of top goal scorer if SEB wins and we get promoted or come Jan will SEB GET a new contract. With every one on here knowing he is not PL player as he only has one year left the same as Berra and we know he is not PL class please tell me no and the money we save on the two will buy better thats if we get promoted. And if we dont will they stay not berra Seb will but only because he knows himself the PL is a step to far and no one wants him.

I think you need to keep faith with the players (to a degree) I would extend his contract a few years, then if in the PL bring in another striker so the pressure is on to perform well

I think SEB should be offered a new contract. If he has a good season then he would easily command £2M if we decided to sell later....
