Hunt continues for new coach

If you thought Ståle Solbakken's search for a new first team coach had gone quiet, well that's because it has.

It's not a case that Solbakken has changed his mind or got side tracked, its just simply a case that negotiations and talks remain ongoing.

The was initially thought that the new coach would be British, unsurprisingly though Solbakken has highlighted someone he has previously worked with and that's former Cologne assistant Patrick Weiser.

Weiser was in the Directors Box at Ewood Park for Saturday`s 1-0 win at Blackburn and a decision could be made over the next couple of weeks.

"Patrick is one of the guys who we have been talking to for a long time," Solbakken told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: "He is also someone I know from before. We are monitoring the situation and have been in touch with a few others.

But while it sounds like the job could be Weiser's if he wants it, Solbakken will continue to talk to other options.

"I will probably have one or two more chats with people this week and then hopefully we`ll solve it within the next 14 days. There are no favourites and it would be stupid to say that at the moment."

...just as there had to be a British manager. The board opted for STS instead and that in turn will bear upon the choice of a coach considerably. That choice will have to do with the candidates' football tactics and their compatibility with those of the manger rather than with any considerations of nationality.

Agreed, lovesW. Similarly,we should not be too unhappy if MM gets he Bolton job and takes the residual members of his staff with him, including the chief scout. He's made some terrible mistakes and SS has certainly done a better job himself. Moreover, he will want someone who is atuned to his footballing philosophy, which is the point lovesW is making in relation to the search for a managerial assistant.

Bolton will do well with Mick, and then struggle if they get promoted just as we did ... the chap, nice as he is is just too predictable ... im still concerned though at having the same guys in defence, apart form a rejuvenated RJ, we need some changes there.
