'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Modest Matt Shares Plaudits

Matt Murray, currently the in form Championship 'keeper has worked hard to get back to fitness, get back his starting place, and get back to where every Wolves fan thinks he should be.

Top of the pile.

Some might be happy then, to listen to the praise heaped on them, and collect all of the glory themselves. But not our Matt.

Shortly before the release of the latest Actim stats, that confirmed him as the divisions most consistent stopper, he talked about hte current work ethic within the whole side.

'I think right from the front the team has worked really hard, from whoever is playing up front through the midfield to the defence."

'I think Jody and Breeny have been excellent together and as a result I haven't had much to do.'

'As a team we've looked pretty solid, the gaffer seems reasonably happy with everyone and there's definitely a good buzz about the place.'

A buzz that has been missing since at least January, possibly longer, and one that has seen Wolves confound critics and currently sit in the Championship promotion places.

No one is getting carried away. It's five games in to a long arduous season.

But the longest journey starts with the first steps, and after a season of playing catchup from the beginning, sitting in the top five with a new squad built on a shoestring, with little expectation, should be savoured whilst it lasts.
