Hennessey set for year on sidelines after op

Wayne Hennessey has been sidelined for somewhere between nine and eleven months following a second cruciate ligament operation.

After returning to action after six months following his first ruptured cruciate ligament injury, Hennessey suffered a re-occurance of the injury on Monday in training.

A subsequent MRI scan confirmed that he had disrupted the repair in the same knee and on Thursday he had surgery for a second time.

He now will spend the remainder of this season on the sidelines starting his rehabilitation programme again from scratch.

"It`s a tragedy for Wolves and it`s a tragedy for Wayne, He`s had the operation and everything should be fine. There was nothing unusual in what they found. He will probably be out for nine, 10 or 11 months.' Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken told Express & Star.

He continued: "The plan will be exactly the same as he did last time - to get back ahead of schedule, because he did everything right.

"To say he`s upbeat isn`t the right word because he doesn`t want to go through all that injury period again, but he`s a strong character and can bounce back."
