Wolves appeal Berra sending off

Wolverhampton Wanderers have ended the last two games with only ten men.

The first was Karl Henry against Brighton, the second was Christophe Berra against Watford.

Now personally, trying to be impartial, I'd have to say that Henry deserved to be given his marching orders against Brighton. It wasn't malicious, it was born from frustration and he flew in a little too high and it looked a nasty challenge.

But you can't help but feel you're on the receiving end of some harsh referring when you receive a second red card the following week, for a shirt pull on a striker who was still able to get his shot away. Especially when less than half an hour of the game had been played!

He wasn't really even the last man when the 'offence' was taking place, with plenty of cover for Berra.

That has led to Wolves attempting to appeal the decision and get Berra's suspension wiped clean.

'Wolves have lodged an appeal with the Football Association for wrongful dismissal following Christophe Berra`s red card at Watford on Saturday.' a statement on Wolves Official Website read.

It continued: 'Berra was dismissed in the 25th minute at Vicarage Road for "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity" following a tussle with Watford striker Troy Deeney.

'Wolves had to serve notice of the appeal by 1pm today (Monday), and will be submitting both written and video evidence to support their claim.

'A decision will then be received this week in advance of Saturday`s fixture against Nottingham Forest, which Berra is currently due to miss as a result of his one-game suspension.

It was never a sending off and Im sure this will be resolved in ur favour. I would also like to appeal Stale's decision not to sign Frimpong, this in my opinion is his second big mistake, after not sorting defensive reinforcements.

... and it as been resolved in our favour, AdMant. I am pleased that sanity has returned but it is a pity that we cannot rewind the match back to that point so that we can play out the rest of the game with eleven men (in spite of what I said in my report about our ten man team). It's really frustrating: one week a ridiculous penalty award and the next a stupid sending off decison.
